It's hard to know about the difference, but on our gravel car it runs on automatic, we also link the wiper bottle into the jets as well, so it pulls 2/3rds IC bottle 1/3rd washer bottle (hence no screen cleaner). We will use all the water up through about 2-3 stages or 15-20 miles.

From what I have been told when we are running the ALS and tanking it through a stage then yes it is worth it . Driving on the road sections at slower speed we still hear it cutting in.

In normal use it is generally considered by Integrale owners as having negligible effect on the road-car's performance, but may have been worth the odd extra bit of oomph in the works rally cars.
Just one other interesting fact about the Integrale engine: it had an "overboost facility" which allowed an extra wedge of turbo boost. This kicked in when you floored the throttle and gave about 10-15% more torque. You would see the turbo gauge needle swing past the usual maximum point. It was only to be used sparingly and I guess was a good way of preserving the engine and ancilliaries. It was pretty quick in "normal" mode anyway
