I was hoping at first that we might get two lots of GP's in a season!

Seriously I think it would be nothing but a "Good Thing" to get shot of Mosely and the other creep so that we can have a decent organisation which will work for the teams and the public.

Rumour has it that speaking of jewels in the crown....

Apparently FOTA may also have an agreement to secure the Monaco GP for the new breakaway group.

Ooops!

If its going legal, can FOTA field mickey mouse cars (go kart ) and skeleton crew for FIA events to meet basic contractual obligations, but put the money and effort into the alternative series?

Or use this years cars with minor modifications. It won't cost 40 million that way

I really hope the breakaway series gets going. It is about time the money flowed in the right directions. The financial arrangements Bernie et al impose are just ridiculous. Everyone pays them money, and very very few ppl get anything back.

Bernie just ends up pocketing masses of cash for doing very little. The sport has been pants for a fair few years now. It has only being when there has almost been a total revolt have the capitulated and listened to the fans.

About time it all became cheaper for fans to attend races, cheaper for teams to compete and have rules that encourage racing. Imagine how good the rules could be if the drivers get to make them! Lets hope FOTA is a democratic breakaway series, so that they can be no favouritism in any way

They can't afford to lose those teams, and they must know which direction the goodwill is taking.

Max & Bernie have been bullies. They've controlled F1 by divide and conquer but FOTA changed all that. It's been less than a year since they formed and look at the disruption they are causing already.

God knows how it will pan out, but its either gonna be very messy or it'll die down quickly and they'll kiss and make up.

I guess they cant have FOTA calling the shots but equally they have to listen to them and compromise. I just dont think compromise has been a word in their dictionary until now.

The problem as I see it is that this row has become very public. This means that either one side backs downs very publicly or it will get messy. FIA cannot be seen to no longer call the shots, and FOTA cannot be seen to no stand firm if they want to continue to exist.

I don't see an easy way to get out of this. If it had not been so public, and the statements issues by both sides had been more moderate in tone there could have been some sort of face saving reconciliation.

I can see this heading all the way through the courts and probably into some sort of breakaway series. Personally I think the end of Max and Bernie could be a good thing. I just hope what replaces them has all the major teams and drivers onboard, and provides good racing.

I bet there will be a full F1 grid next year including all the big teams expect maybe Renault, and Sliverstone will hild the British GP.

Right or wrong the two sides need eachother. Berne knows a championship without the big teams would not work, and I can't see how the teams could set up a full world championship season in less than a year!!

It would end up being a joke on both sides.

Now that would be worth watching! Imagine what they could come up with, all the drivers, sat down in the pub with a blank sheet of paper for a rule book. I dare say a return to the late 80s turbo era would follow shortly after

Interesting interview with Bernie yesterday, basically said he's trying to get them all to agree, there's no way of getting rid of Mr Bondage unless he decides to go by himself (why would he want to leave such a lucrative job!?) cause it takes votes from the top 108? people in the FIA to vote him out?

I agree, like all recent events in F1 it's been handled incredibly bad. As for Mr Whiplash saying F1 needs to cut costs in this modern world then how the hell can he justify the £500m the teams have wasted on that stupid KERRS system!?

Interesting that Bernie refused to comment on whether he thought Oswald was a great FIA Chairman!

Also an interesting article on Oswald's budget cap. To enforce the cap would mean that FIA auditors would have full access to the accounts of Toyota, BMW, Ferrari, et al.

That is not going to happen in a million years!! No large corporate is going to open it's accounts for audit to a third party which is there purely for promotional purposes.

It is a bit like saying that ITV can audit your accounts because you want to advertise your product there.

On another front, I would be pretty sure that each of the members of FOTA will have contacted their respective main sponsors to ensure they would be behind them all the way. And I am sure the sponsors were saying, No, please don't do that as we will have ten times as much free TV coverage

I'm thinking the same. Bernie is screwed if they form a breakaway series, and he knows with all the big teams and drivers gone the commercial value of the new F1 will be hardly anything, so a lot of the contracts he has with circuits and TV companies might become void - basically his wealth would be slashed.

Bernie said before quali he would be happy for teams to spend what they want, as long as they signed up for 5 years.

I think that crazy fool Mosley has to go though. No deal will be reached while he's still there, but he's so stubborn and out of touch I doubt he'd ever stand down.

At least he said that there will be a British GP next year, either at Donington or Silverstone!
