N97 or 3Gs

Get an Iphone, I have a Touch and its brilliant, wish I had gone for an Iphone instead of the LG Renoir, which is ok but feels clunky in comparison. Have had the last few Nokia N series top enders, the 95 was pretty good I thought but feels kind of unfinished next to an Iphone. I am no way an Apple Fanboy, have held off for years, I bougth an Iriver H340 in preference to the Ipod, just using the Kids Ipod Touches made me change my mind.
I was put off the N96 by a freind who is very well placed to advise on these matters and has no axe to grind with any manufacturer as he deals with them all.
The LG is ok but I wouldnt wholeheartedly recommend it.

Snazy - I HATE the Symbian OS. It's more frustrating that Windows...
What so you mean about having a nicer window?! Do you mean "lens?"
Anyway, Nokia would have to pull off a miracle for me to ever consider one of their phones again. Both me and Mrs Matt, loyal Nokia fans for years, have turned to SE now Nokia have lost their way. And much prefer them (me C905, her C902)

For me, I'm looking at the N97..
I could if i wanted go for any of the following...
iphone
N97
G1
Each has its own peculiarity's.
and before anyone chips in. I can have any of them on contract..
I don't want an iphone, whilst i admire its 2 finger V approach to the phone market, and its a quirky beast, the fact that apple insist on controlling everything about the phone & its operation, puts me right off.
N97, again nice phone huge memory, not to sure about the touch screen, and Symbian, is a funny beast... signed sigs etc lol
Also the phone is so new, its bound to have bugs... my N95 had a defective sirf unit... not a happy bunny
G1, whilst probably the bottom of the pack, its quite a interesting unit..
Android OS, lots of applications available... , joystick / thumb stick
touch screen & keyboard..
The downside is it needs rooting to get the most from it, and the camera is pov spec, even with the OS upgrade..
The only bugbear at the moment, is whichever one i go for, its another 18 months.. lol

If the N97's touch screen is even half as slick as the iphone I'll eat my own arsehole.
I bought my mrs an iphone and warned her she'll (for some reason) come accross iphone haters when people see she has one.. sure enough she came home one day telling of her friends husband launching a full on verbal assault at her for having one! After 30 seconds of him having a play with it he wanted one.

Problem is James, the whole point is its what each person likes. What one man loves, another man hates.
We will never all agree on ONE great phone.
But the lovely thing is, whatever your poison, you can be sure there is something out there to suit your needs. Touch screen, keyboards, solid phones, clam phones, slide phones, cameras, bluetooth, wifi, dual, tri and quad band.
For me if I were replacing my phones RIGHT now, it would be a BB 8900 and an N97.

No discount on the 3GS but the last gen Iphone is free on all tarrifs 18 months and over
Oh and between the N97 and Iphone 3GS, no brainer if Nokia have used the same processor/setup as the N95/96, the ammount of returns on these phones was astranomical due to faults

Extra quid in it... lol
Apple IPhone 3G 8Gb £191.10 Sell Old Mobile
Was actually shocked with the resale of the N95, selling for £115 a couple of months back, 2 years old.
A lot of the SE phones seem to have very little value straight away.

As N95 now needs replacing (broken earpiece) I am in the N97 on Vodafone v i Phone on 02 costing more for a worse deal decision mode. Been with Voda for 15 years - so its a big decision and feels like switching to a cartel... prefer open market options usually rather than being had by the short n curlies.
Saw an i Phone browsing Facebook yesterday - leagues ahead of sketchy browsing on N95...

Mazuma wil still give you £45 for the broken N95.
I can't complain about my N95, it's served me well but I don't think it did anything particularly brilliantly. Even the 5mp camera took worse shots than the 3mp K800i I had previously. Nokia maps was ok, but having to pay extra for nagivation was poop. The dual slide on mine has some serious play in it now too.
I had to remove everything that Orange had preloaded on the N95 to get web browsing to work properly.
