No matter what you do to it,it will still be a 22B and will still be a unique car..
Dave

My mate sold his to a chap from Ireland nicki Grist wifes Car with 16K miles for £22K 18months ago, he was gutted

There aren't that many truely un-molested models but they are out there so Best of luck in your search

Default 22B

Sorry lads,
Just another question, how can i tell that a car is a genuine 22B,how do i know that someone hasnt just welded on the arches and stuck a plaque on the dash.Does a 22B have a specific number/chassis number under the bonnet that i could work off or is there anything else in the car that can confirm that a car is a genuine 22B..
Sorry about the stupid question,
Dave..

You sure,i have seen a few 22B's in Japan with that type of bumper on??

Car is genuine anyway, has been clarified by Subaru.
Car was given a full inspection today, diagnostics, underbody, panels and its all in A1 condition.
All it needs now is the origional alloys(wouldnt be cheap i know),bonnet, mirrors and remove that roof scoop to bring her back to her former glory..

It sounds like you are talking yourself into buying it, walk away & get a standard example without all the hassle of having to have work done on it.

Looks like wrong bumper, bonnet vents, wheels, wing mirrors and the rear spoiler looks a bit iffy from this angle.
The colour looks a little washed out, but that may just be the picture or my monitor.

The 22B forum has a register of cars and someone may be able to shed light on its past or comment more on its authenticity.

Ya i think the picture is a bit poor alright, paintwork looks fine when you see it up close.Everything on the vin plate seems ok and matches up.
Thats what im been told by Subaru anyway, and a friend in Japan who imports cars.
I think the bumper is a spurious one and made from fibreglass.

Like i said before the vents, alloys etc dont bother me because they are always things i can work on in my own time, its just basically the fact is it a genuine registered 22B?.
So if there's anyone here who can clarify that for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Dave..

Dave, I know its your own money and if you buy it I wish you the best of luck with it and it might turn out that you are very happy with it but you are getting some great advice here from numerous people, you have to ask yourself why the original bumper is replaced and a lot of things just dont add up. Grant it if you bought one in the UK and added the VRT, it would be costing you a bit more than that one but in the long run it could be the cheaper option. You also have to factor in that when you go to sell it, being a very specialised car, the majority of people buying these cars know their stuff and will nit pick every fault like the replacements and maybe walk away.
Is it a fresh import? Have they offered you a genuine copy of the auction grade report? You should get that first anyhow and at the very least do a bimta check. Best of luck either way.

BIMTA, there are a couple of options. I would assume if the auction grade report is authentic it should answer some of the bimta questions but for the sake of a few extra euro, no harm doing the check also.

I know this garage as it is 20 minutes from my house.

My advice...find another example. This car has been for sale for about 18 months now. A lot better out there. That goes for the car AND the dealer.

Walk away from this car.

Lads I live 10 minutes from this car dealer and have looked at this car myself.

It has had a front and smash at somestage. The bonnet has paint runs, the wing if I remember right been the left one has been replaced with a fibre glass one to. I saw this on the auction sites in Jap land when it came up and had to see it in the flesh when these lads got it over here but even with the revalution wheels they fitted it wasn't up to standard.

A friend of mine who recently bought a 22b also had a look before he bought and he wasn't impressed either.

Better cars out there for the money.
