My Legacy Turbo Pics

sanders, yes the box goes straight in, but remember you have to swap the rear diff aswell due to the lower final drive. mine is the close ratio one from a 1998 car (not sure if they all are - its not a STi RA box though).
the car goes like stink in comparison, its the best thing ive done to the car. only problem is, it now only does about 135mph @ 7000rpm redline, whereas it went off the clock with the standard box
the only thing you have to do is use the legacy front input flange (slightly bigger diameter on impreza) on the rear diff, and also the backplate, again on the rear diff (due to shorter body mount bolts on legacy).
apart from that, nothing.
i also made my own quickshift while the lever was out, works excellent, and only took about 20mins

Cjaffray,
Are you going to Knockhill next Sunday for the SIDC track day.
I wouldn't mind a look at your car. I've just acquired a black turbo myself. It's fitted with 4 pots and Impreza STi suspension.
Unfortunately it's also needing some major engine work so I will have my Impreza on the track instead.

one of you chaps must be able to help me...i need a new engine for my legacy turbo saloon (cracked block!)- do you know of any cars with sound engines being broken? any advice would be much appreciated, as i've only had the car a few months and am desperate to nurse it back to health...
p.s.cjaffray, have u sold the gold wheels? i might still be interested, but they're not much good without an engine...

Great looking car!! These cars deserve a lot of respect. If your ever selling her give me a shout as I'am currently on the look out for a black one.

Fellas,
Lots of nice pics - but all stationary!! Here's a pic of me having lots of fun at Anglesey earlier this year. Car's pretty much standard - only the wheels (MY00 16") and brakes (EBC Turbo grooved discs with red stuff pads) are non-standard.
And guess what - I was able to ride to and from the track (~600 miles) in comfort and carry all the tools, fluids, spares etc myself as well as the weekend luggage. Great motor!
Here's another couple:

LegacyPete and UkLegacy, I wanted a white one too and almost actually got one straight from Japan couple years back in the bargain basement! Was stuffed by a slow bank transfer! Anyway got a red wagon now - exactly the same as my 1.8GL so noone knew I had a different car!

Here's another one of Karen's car (in the sun this time), with my Impreza just behind it.
Excuse the cartoony stuff... The picture was taken for other purposes!

dfullerton - The Springs are H&R items. (Whatever that means). I know JCM7611 has got Impreza springs on, so they may be a straight fitment if you want uprated/lowered items?
flat4 - Prima Racing? Yeah, they've changed names now? They did all the exhaust & chip work on our old Renault 19 16v.

i think they have a couple of names, Prima Racing, Matrix Design etc. all under the trading name of Hart Motorsport.
Impreza springs do fit straight on, i've got STI lowering springs on WRX RA shocks, if you use the existing top shock mounting plates the rear fit but the fronts don't quite fit, but still good enough (i hope)

JCM7611,
Tyres in the pics were SO2's and I found them to be fine. I usually run Bridgestone RE720's on the road and I've never had any problems with them either - though given the exceptionally high tyre wall profile they tend to roll over long before they slide!
Glad you like the pics - probably be out again at Coombe at the CCC day at the end of April.
Cheers,

KONABOY - I should be going to Castle Coombe to spectate at the CCC day in April. I'll make sure to search you out and say hello.
See if I can get Karen to come along and watch you thrash your Legacy around - Give her some inspiration to do the same herself!
Regards,
Squizz.

Any of you lot going to the Snetterton Track Day(near Norfolk)on Tue's 2nd April?
I'll be on track in my Silver 92 Legacy Turbo, I've just fitted Ferodo DS 2500 brake pads today, so hopefully no brake fade this time.
KYB do an ajustable shock kit for this car, called AGX trouble is they dont sell it in this country yet, I've contacted KYB and they say they might sell it here later this year.
Flat4 that is a nice looking car, good idea blacking the silver trim out.

Hi Squizz,
Looking at the tail pipe in that other thread of yours I think I'll spot you long before you spot me!! I may take the Legacy out for a few laps at Coombe, but I won't be out all day. Pride and joy and all that - or should I say cost of tyres and all that!?!?
I do expect to be out in a converted Sierra though, a Twin Turbo XR4x4 that I share with a couple of mates with the express purpose of thrashing on track days (see www.xr4x4.co.uk). That's a *bit* louder than my scoob so probably easier to spot too! See you there,
Cheers,
Tony

Result I think, after only two edits as well.
