I live on a council estate - used to own my own home but divorced my hubby made a fresh start with a child on my own - i now live in a council house because I cant get a mortgage through circumstances and the street i live on has a lot of very expensive cars on - at the top of my street theres a house with "lads" in and if u friends with them u are protected no one will touch our cars
would love to live in a big detached somewhere posh but to me my house is my home i have my children, my family and friends and can afford a nice car so why not ???

A guy round the corner has a Ferrari, Aston and a Range Rover, he lives in a 3 bed extended semi on a typical suburban Wimpey estate.
I always wondered with that much money why he doesn't live somewhere a bit more exclusive.

Zeuss i don't want to upset you or people in the area you live, it's probably a friendly neighbourhood watch place anyway.Where did you see the neighbourhood watch sticker ?.Stay away from them if you think they will ask for protection money or better ask the council to re-house you & your family.Just becareful that's is all i'm saying.

I fully agree with the £1K car and a better area argument.
But as my early bug-eye teeters on the brink of chavdom, I may have to go easy next year and buy a "hatch" !![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
In our "street" we have:-
two brand new Audi A3s
one brand new Megane
a new Golf turbo+supercharger thingy (GT ?)
a new Nissan "Monster truck"
my bug
next doors 02 Volvo
and her indoors Jeep on a 53 plate.
LOL
dunx
P.S. Some of my pals are on council estates, and once garaged their cars are fine..... double locked, floodlit, alarmed, and dog equipped

There are some that feel comfortable living in the same area they grew up in. Give them all the money in the world and they are happy to be close to their friends etc.

Well i made all my money over the last few years from the bunk bed customers from the council estates who bought lots of furniture and quite surprizingly expensive designer stuff and four poster beds too ""
When i look back they were a lot better to deal with then the middle class young achivers who wanted the cheap stuff on finace and wanted perfection too
the council estate people paid cash and were happy and never looked down at you baiscally they hadnt the higher overheads then the red brick estates people ,could afford some decent cars as they didint have massive morgages or big council tax and were generally a lot happier then the people with big morgages and wanting to be higher achievers
they had more money for booze and holidays to magaluf and the best gold from argos for thier kids too
nothing wrong with them ,they know their role in life and have more disposable income then the middle classes

joking aside i couldnt agree more, iv met a few people over the years as you describe and who may indeed be under more pressure , albeit with aweighty investment from mater and pater but in addition are actually obnoxious individuals
With any luck at these people would have lost their deposit and moved back in

I went to the most disgusting house ever to answer a domestic last week. The smell was so foul that I asked the woman to put her dog outside.
Turned out she doesn't have one - it was the children
