PJ's are the one thing I haven't looked into so can't help you there. See if the AV Forums crowd can advise you.

You'd be better off ringing Babestation and asking one of their lovely ladies for advice on your AV equipment.

I do go onto AVForums but tend to lurk and have never posted. I might go to an AV sspecialist and get advice there. ( I did steal Groove's idea for my AV units )

Cheers.....

Too many sheep bleating someone eles's opinions. There are some good knowledgeable folk on there, but they are totally diluted by the people repeating other peoples ideas and opinions without the proper knowledge or experience to do so or give sound reasoning, plus the unwillingness to accept any others who may have differing ideas from what is percieved as norm (especially if they are not from established users).

That's my opinion (Baaaa ).

Always the way when Bose is mentioned - one of the reasons i didn't venture an opinion on speakers

I have 2 sets of Bose surround speakers (AM10 & AM15) and think they sound great & look great.

In my main room I have Monitor Audio RS's with a Yammaha RX-V2600 - they sound better, but cost more and are much bigger.

Horses for courses - Bose are always slagged off by people who don't own any of their kit - a bit like Bang & Olufsen - it's more expensive, but if you like the looks - it's worth it. The most you can say is not great value.......

Generally i'd be part of the anti-Bose campaign. Not down to the product itself but due to the bang for buck value. I'm a bit of a Monitor Audio fanboy though, so I can be sometimes biased.

Id seriously recommend auditioning HD projectors. Before going in to the store I was convinced that a DLP would be best as these got all the best reviews. I couldnt watch more than 15 mins of the DLPs due to the flickering rainbow affect (althought the more expensive ones are much better).

By contrast I found the Panasonic LCD projector to be excellent and the "chicken wire" affect was barely noticeable.

However some people can watch DLPs and not be affected, some can find the mesh affect of LCDs obtrusive so until you watch I wouldn't part with my hard earned cash.

This was a year ago so no doubt technology has moved on but as a rule keep an open mind, go to a specialists and see for yourself even if its a little more expensive than buying from the net making sure you made the right purchase is vital.

Thanks for the advice I'll tread carefully and try before I buy ! It's something for the near future as at present we are getting outside the house sorted. New lawns and tarmac the driveway etc. See whats left in the kitty.

Daddyscoob, i do a little bit of part time work for a fella who owns a custom installation business if you wish closer to the time give me a PM and i'll pass the details on. He's a very good guy for advice and is keen on price, he has been in the business for many years so he's hard to beat.

Daddyscooby, I have music streaming through different parts of the house but via a Sonos system, and all CDs ripped to hardrive.
This also gives me Napster (5 million songs) and internet radio. So not unique to Bose, but I won't start slagging them off (though I'm not keen on them)

I'm running a whole load of kit and bought a pj last Xmas. I went for the Sony VPL HW 10. At the time it was £1500 with free blu ray player, since then it has gone up.

Anyway I was worried about buying such a 'cheap' HD pj but am over the moon with. I've watched loads of films on it now and as long as you can get the room dark enough its fantastic.
I would add though, with all pjs, they only come into their own with HD sources. Standard def, esp some crappy TV channels will look even worse when the image is 8ft wide.

I would also suggest leaving provision later for a good quality sub. You not only hear bass but feel it, if you are really into films then it is essential.
The subs you get with, for example, Kef packages are rubbish despite what their owners tell you. They produce more distortion than clean bass.

I've recently upgraded from a BK Monolith (which I highly recommend) to a SVS PC Ultra and its awesome. But the latter is 4ft tall and UGLY, so not for everyone. I sold my Monolith for £380 only 6 months old, and if you picked up a deal like that I promise you your movie watching experience would be transformed.

Happy hunting!

I use a Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub myself, watching films without it would be like going to a nudist beach with 2 eye infections.

Interesting I'd heard the same about quality of PJ's. I looking at SKY HD and Bluray sources so should be ok. Will certainly have to do more homework and see some working.
Thanks
