Now should I be pleased that people want me to join them fishing,
or worried that they want me to suffer again!

Should be going out on a boat again next week, will get the suggested remedies and see how I get on before committing again.

My rod & reel are here & available if you would like to use them instead or Rob's gear , 18LLB mainline should be OK , would just need a leader ( Sure Rob said he had these on the boat Sunday )

I bought my multiplier from Jetty Anglers.
Canvey was a little disapointing on price.
Their Carp prices and sea end tackle was good, but the reels not so much.

I have got a Daiwa SL30SH (SLOSH). The ABU 7000 was a little big for me as a multi function reel (Rob's PEN is smaller than this reel). Was going to get the ABU6500 with level wind. But Jetty advised the Daiwa as a better quality reel.
Well after today i have to say that i like it... All multipliers as you know are not the easiest things to cast with. But i was quickly able to get to grips with the SLOSH and like it loads.. Rob agreed it was agood reel too... although it doesn't have level wind which might be a factor for you

Well as Neil has said, was amuch better day than Sunday.
To start with the river was like a pond when we set off. By the time we hit the deeper waters (50ft), it was like a lake, a few ripples but nothing much.
By mid afternoon it was a little rougher as the wind picked up, but still calmer than any time we saw on sunday.

First stop was to get some live bait for the tope, etc. So we stopped, dropped some feathers (Hooks with bits of tinsel) in the water, waved them around a little and bugger me, there were Mackrel on the end of the line!!!
I personally had around half dozen or more. TBH i lost count we was shipping them in so quick. I guess between the 6 of us fishing we must have had around 20-30 mackrel.
Then we headed off for tope.. personally is stuck to a standard pennel rig and was hoping for some skate or bass... But very quickly i was reeling in a nice Smooth Hound. Lots of bites later and a couple of moves, I'd had 5 smooth hounds, 3 of which were returned as they were female.
Still not possibly as good as others have seen, but was a good day for me. I would have liked a Skate, but wasn't to happen for anyone.

As for the Tope.... well we saw a few baby tope, but nothing mahoosive.. That said, Rob the skipper did reel his line in at one point and a tope had bitten clean through the body of the mackrel he had on as bait. Trust me it must have been a big bugger to have bitten straight through and even more so, not to rock the line or give any bite indication at all!!!! another guys also reeled in to find that a whiting that he had caught had then been bitten in half whilst reeling in!!! So they are out there.

here's a few pics of today's catches...

Weird fish, no heads or tails

Hope you put them safely back afterwards, maybe with a bit of antiseptic for those cuts.
