What is your maximum speed newage/classic with mods ??

I understand that but i would imagine that the majority of the cars on here would be able to reach there maximum speed if they had a long enough stretch of private road .
I was just thinking that somebody with all the gear ratios for the different models could work out an approximate top speed. If two cars have the same gearbox but one has a hundred bhp more then they should both have the same top speed but the more powerfull one will get there quicker?

i know this as i fitted a 5 speed box to a 1,3 escort years ago and i couldnt get it to the same top speed as i could with the 4 speed box....... and that was 113mph and it took me almost from stanstead to the M25 to get there

at the upper end of 3 figure speeds the car feels scarily stable, enticing you into more......but the thing I have noticed with a prodrive setup and prodrive competition suspension is that there's no warning when it goes.....grips grips grips...gone.....
puts you off a little..!!!
the other thing is, mine sounds like a herd of elephants stampeding at full chat...so deffo not stealthy at all, Anyone would hear me on a mission from 2 miles away..LOL

164mph/7400rpm in 6th on GPS at same 40-50mph headwind affected airfield day that Steve bt was on. 450bhp rcm P1 with spec C 6 speed fitted.
Edit to say that at an indicated by speedo 160mph actually equalled 148mph on gps. When I got to 164 on the GPS the speedo needle was pointing straight down i.e. miles past the 160mph speed marking

wow alot of you are getting more true readings from gprs compared to your car, ie your car is showing more.
i removed my speedo cable and took the car for a spin (i still have limiter fitted so this removes it while unplugged, im cheap!!)
i used a road angel to monitor how fast i was going and i hit 160mph in my sti v3 with a few mods. but i have no way of know what is right or wrong though

I had a GPs reading of 172 in my old bug.

So if I ditched the bigger scoop I currently have now, and went for a reverse scoop, would this help with the concerns people have with regards to sustained high speed runs in 5th-6th?
I started a thread in Gen Tech regarding speeds above 100mph and the dangers of the engine blowing. In that thread the conclusion was that its oil starvation at sustained speeds which causes the engine to go pop, whilst running high revs in a high gear. How can this be avoided though? I asked about a FMIC but is that the only possible solution to this? I dont know....
I'm still trying to come up with a solution for safe, sustained speeds above 100mph without spending every second thinking its gonna blow any second lol. Any advice?
