Does anyone know if the new ceramic GMT is definitely going to be available in the Pepsi or Coke colours? I know Nat posted a picture, but I can't find any further info on the web.

Wow, very quick reply!

Thanks Nat. I have a Panerai at the moment, and have been looking at a particular IWC for my next watch. I never really thought about Rolex, but I like the look of the ceramic GMT. So now I have to decide.

I have a 40mm GMT Panerai, the PAM244. I know it goes against the Paneristi to have a 40mm, but I can't pull off the bigger size with my skinny wrists. I love the watch, and wanted one for 5 years before I got it.

The IWC is the 3717-04, which is one of the pilot's watches on a stainless steel bracelet. I also like the ceramic Double Chrono you posted here, but I am not sure about the Top Gun association. I like the film (I am ashamed to admit), but not sure I want it on my £4k watch!

Nat, what would your choice be between the Rolex and the IWC?

I regard my Panerai as fragile too. I don't know whether that is the right way to be with it. So much so that I don't even wear it very often through fear of damaging it.

I think I will go and try the Rolex for size...

Not my watch as I haven't took pics yet..

The deed is done.

Just picked up and am the new proud owner of a GMTIIc.

Mixed feelings walking in as it was a massive purchase and undertaking.

But seeing it on my wrist, I can say that those feelings have gone. It's a beautiful watch. The build quality is stunning. Leagues above my other two watches (Omega & Oris). Adjusting it and even simply closing the clasp has a feel that you only get with high end cars and that 'shutting the door' moment or down to the simple damping that you get with cup holders and the like. That attention to detail and the pursuit of making it a crafted piece stands right out. It really does feel special as it wears perfectly.

The Ceramic bezel has a way of showing some wonderful colours under different light. My toilet light made it go all creamy grey...

This will be with me until it's handed to the kids.

The wife is next for a lady Rolex....

To that end I'll be selling on my 2003 Omega Speedmaster Day Date and 2007 Oris TT3 Titanium / Carbon watch as they'll be secondary items sitting doing nothing. So if anyone wants to make a good offer or is interested, then let me know.

Well if you think that 4-5k on a watch is a small fortune you really should think about getting a job that pays a bit better than the one you have now.
You can spend more than that just on a weekend in Monte Carlo or a weeks fishing for Merlin in the Seychelles. Lets face facts Rolex watches are cheap hence guys having at least three or four. I think your a bit out of these guys league.

Ps Just having a laugh and I do have 9 Rolex's

So you don't hunger after that Aston, Lambo or Ferarri?

A quick family week in Cyprus is cosing me 2.5k..... Is that a waste too?

You obviously have no appreciation of the engineering involved in a mechanical watch. Buying an expensive watch is the same as buying an expensive car. Why spend money on a Scooby then when a Tata Nano does the same job?

Your spending a small fortune on something that gets you from one place to another.

I love this argument...this is where it goes quiet or the 'a car is a different thing to a watch.....' blah crowd emerge.

Everybody surely looks to move up in the world regardless of it being a car, house, holiday, jewelery etc etc...
