That just looks so false ... the image seems too bright, there's no stars & FFS the vehicle looks like it was made on Blue Peter! You expect people to beleive that it was capable of landing & taking off again on the moon

We can get back there. They could just make some more Saturn V's.
BUT...the new vehicle system they will use is going to be used to further exploration than the moon so they need it to be more adaptable and expandable and suited to more than just going to the moon and back once.

Great idea to have done that after spending billions and billions, and now have not much other than a first stage booster in Florida to show for it.
NASA for you, when they are not killing astronauts (aka space mechanics) they are blowing the bottom out of the their budget on crap.

microfilm. The Federal Archives in East Point, GA also has 2900 cubic
feet of Saturn documents. Rocketdyne has in its archives dozens of
volumes from its Knowledge Retention Program. This effort was initiated
in the late '60s to document every facet of F-1 and J-2 engine
production to assist in any future re-start.

The problem wouldn't be making the rocket body, panels etc but with all the off the shelf parts they used in the mechanics of it.
"Thingy Corp" might have been able to supply 6000 "widgets"/"do-dahs" in 1960 but they stopped makign them ages ago now and every single part that was no longer made would have to be tooled up again...

Indeed, i cut out another cool full page ad for it from a magazine yesterday to add to my clipping collection 
I wonder if going to the moon is Matteyboy approved or just an image-boosting egotistical waste of money? Are NASA chavs? Those space suits were a bit shiny weren't they!
Even he will have to admit though that in that case an expensive/premium watch WAS needed

It was reported at the time the astronauts couldnt see any stars, and also the astronauts on first seeing the LM said it looked like it was made from cling film and tin foil and indeed they werent that far from the truth

I would imagine the computing power used in the Apollo mission was all number-crunching as oppose to computer-controlled flight systems etc, so in theory the most basic computer is just as capable as the most-advanced for this, it's just that the most basic would be far slower at doing the calculations.
