About 70p each which covers the disc, the plastic things I send them in and the A4 envelope etc.

Yeah, just mixes I've recorded onto my PC, then stuck onto CD. No mastering or anything, so totally genuine and not blended together like some commercial pap

Send us a pm if you want and we'll discuss. Got others interested but I'm not really allowed to advertise

Yeah, no worries. Been so busy of late with my DJ'ing prep and starting at Corus early... just not had time to construct any new sets

Well it's safe to say the nerves are kicking in.

Just been watching a couple vids on Youtube and all the big players like van Buuren still get nervous before sets so suppose it's to be expected

Just writing the last 100 or so choons to CD

Well **** me

Just got in and I was being encored "one more choon" at 3.55

I think it went well anywho, some minor errors, but considering it was a 5 hour set and my first bar/club experience...

Just tired, got an aching back and feet from jumping and I hope my ears work come the afternoon

Heres rolling on it again on August 14th!

I know, the hardcore ravers were clapping and screaming "one more choon". Was brilliant. Been talking today and I may have a residency for Friday ans Saturday every week with the odd night off for other DJ's and prospective nights.

Bit of business to talk about regards this but it's mainly as the DJ now although relaible is a bit of a ******** and has a drink problem

Things are going quite well for me at the min (cue 205 breaking down again )

on dj forums mate there was a post regarding the amount dj equipment sales have gone up since this recession started, which is kinda good and bad i guess in a way! but a mates mate has just been laid off who plays r'n'b locally as theyre dumping it in favour of dance music...just goes to show, dance music, especially hardcore is the flagship leading the way. people are always going to want to go out and have a good time, so places will always need the best DJ's..but if it was only that easy to break into the scene!!!

I know what you're saying mate. I'm 25 (last Tuesday) and have been DJ'ing since 18 with intent on getting into the clubs.

Had plenty of knockbacks for varying reasons like I don't play cheese, or only like dance music etc, not to mention the amount of ********* in this business. I've certainly have my fair share of "all talk and no action" types... you know promising the world etc

But it was literally a chance thing; I was semi happy/drunk in said bar, bought a drink and thought '**** it'. Asked to see the bar manager for a natter and it literally went from there. The fact her (the bar manager(ess)) and her daughter like dance music over this hip hop/r'n'b/pop crap did help as they have given me the chance. Obviously not before they listened to some of my CD's mind, but even then they were genuine mixes done live so to speak with no tinkering/mastering before going to CD. Shows I'm human.

Made a couple errors on Friday like small double beats, and I had one track skip a beat halfway into a mix Had to basically improvise with some clever FX and channel hopping, but it's stuff you do in the spur of the moment.

Say one thing though, after the first mix went in smoothly (it wasn't great as I was mixing the beatless outro of Gat Decor 'Passion' into the beatless intro of Rozalla 'Everybodies Free' [The Secret Pacha Mix], the confidence was there and I wasn't so much worried about things like the beats. Was a case of I've done it now, I'll keep doing it.

All in all a really good experience and I think I did well considering it was 5 hours continuous mixing with no breaks as a first foray into a bar scene.

I have already been given dates for the 14th (friday) and 29th (Bank holiday saturday), and she's even interested in me doing every friday/saturday with different types of music. Thats something I will have to discuss though as I would need to draw the line at certain forms of dance music, ie cheese. (Bit like asking Bubba Po and his band to play something totally out of character - Barbie Girl etc etc)

I'll just see how it goes, but I'm quite content with the opportunities popping up at the minute.

Certainly a far cry from 12 months ago when I was public enemy no. 1 on here with the usual bandwagonists in full flow

Dance is the way forward mate, although i am into the harder edged stuff! when youve been at work all week you dont wana go to a club thats playing some white rapper talking about people getting shot n stuff (well not me anyway) i want big vocals, big riffs. big piano melodies and a good beat. thats why im hardcore because you get all that, and hardcore isnt just music, its a way of life. you can go to global energy weekender, watch and rave to your fave dj/mc and then mix it up with them after their set, have a beer n that- its a community..one love, one unity! just s shame the rave scene round here is on its ****! i remember when dizstruxshon was on in Howden as a nipper..never thought id grow up to that kinda music haha

getting a set, its not about how good you are, its who you know these days and fair play to talking your way into yours mate. im still crap only had my cdj's about 4 months now and at the mo its all work and then working on the car as opposed to mixing but hoping to get a bit more time when its darker nights and crapper weather!

check my garage mate thers a pic of my setup, t'aint much but i love it.

We definitely have different tastes then. I can't really agree with Hardcore etc, but as you say it's just dance music under a different banner so to speak. Set up looks ok and you are also right in the sense of "who not what you know/can do" etc. Luckily I went in and the manageress is getting pissed with the complacency of the current DJ. There are 4 other lads who have doen 3 nights, but they go from Tech to Electro House, then bangin' Trance to Techno. Their stuff is good and they are good DJ's but you maybe don't want that every week in a small industrial town, unless you had a big core coming from outside the place. I think thats why I went down so well with my promo's as Trance & Progressive is more mainstream without being cheesey. Maybe attracts a more general persona without crossing over to the land of cheese.

That and my love of old dance music from the early to mid 90's is maybe why I've been offered 1-2 night a week, something 2 months ago I would dream of
