Depends how far you want to get into it.

Personally Shania and Taylor Swift are ok, but I'm not keen on really on the "real" country music. Then you have the classic Sweet home Alabama

A couple more classics that are your duty to listen to, and if you love music should blow you away.

The all time 50s classic:

YouTube - Patsy Cline ~ Tennessee Waltz

Note the quality of the performance and the recording. No digital processing, no over dubs or re-takes - just pure quality live and straight down the line...

and the beautiful Allegheny Moon by Patti Page (she's done lots of other great stuff):

Anii '50~Patti Page - Allegheny Moon - Trilulilu Video Muzica

Couldn't find a decent version on YouTube - their loss...

If you don't like these your heart is probably made of stone.

Love it - the song's not so good but - Amy Whinewho?? (and most other modern vocalists) Eat your collective hearts out.

I'm minded to broaden this out and start a 50s music best of thread by and large they urinate on modern performers... is it a good idea??

Go for it, you'll soon see if it was a good idea.
