To be honest when I was reading this thread I got the impression that perhaps you were a little fed up with being a mod. At least you can post what you like now

Oops...

No I haven't quit. Felt like it on the odd occasion. I've playing with my profile settings, was wondering what would happen if I selected "Super Muppet" status, I've only just noticed that it has screwed up my name colours

I'd better put it back, before too many people notice and start celebrating, sorry about that.

I was hoping you were going to start slagging mods and lobby off

Like Ali, I only have so much time on here, and as a paid up member first, I want to spend at least some of my time enjoying the place like the rest of you, and not just sitting for hours going through each thread/section. As I said earlier, I tend to stick to NSR (Stu knows this from when we signed up), but I do have a quick scan elsewhere. If something was really in the wrong place, I'd move it, but alot is borderline, or may get a quicker response elsewhere, so I'd be inclined to leave it be. This generally isn't a huge problem tbh, it's the odd time something gets moved, a fuss kicks off.

In fairness to mods more inclined to move things to the correct place, they are doing what they believe is right, primarily to keep things tidy. Of course, even if something gets moved, other stuff, possibly less obvious or just overlooked may remain.

I don't see it as running to teacher though, it's private, nobody other than us knows something has been rtm'd, so it's not as if the general community know someone has grassed them up so to speak. It's more of a helping hand, at times than telling on people.

On occassion, some people just like to have a moan though.
Thank you for your helpful reply Lisa. I understand fully that you can't monitor every single post or take action for minor infringements unless it has been RTM'd.

There are times though when a really unpleasant post appears for no good reason and it is obvious that SN rules have been transgressed. Very often the innocent party does not want to get into a fight with the original prat if only that he does not want to get banned himself as well as I believe has happened. He may well not wish to get into the RTM procedure for his own reasons.

I was asking Ali in the first place if the original poster might get warned off for his behaviour in such a case. Its all a matter of degree of course as far as the offending post is concerned.
