What scares me is this - When i was a nipper we'd drink cider and wreck the occasional bus shelter. Ho hum.
But today it is far easier and cheaper for 14 year olds to buy class A drugs than it is to get pished. Not good

Ahh, the ol Leah Betts story.
It is sad that she lost her daugher, and she wants to prevent other parents from going through the same thing, that I can sympathise with.
However, my view on this has always been. If she was 'spiked' then it's a very, very sad thing to have happened, and spiking someone is a very stupid and silly thing to do.
However, if she took the pill of her own accord (and i can't remember if she did or not) then I'm sorry, but she took the risk. OK, maybe she did not know all the facts about 'e' and stuff, but hey, you get offered a pill in a club, it ain't going to be an asprin is it? (well, might be if it's a dodgy club
). Anyway what I'm trying to say is that it's still sad, but if she took it of her own free will then it's her fault. OK, dealers should not be dealing in clubs, but hey, it is part of the 'scene'.
think i've said enough.

Whole point is Michelle, if you make drugs legal and obtainable then there is no need to resort to crime to pay for a habit! The mafia's power in America can be directly traced to prohibition in the 20s - all they did was supply what people wanted - not so different from today?
And while we're on the subject - I haven't seen that making handguns illegal in this country has made any difference whatsoever. Gun crime has risen every year in this country since the horrible events of Dunblane (largely related to the drugs trade). Knee jerk government policy isn't going to solve this issue.

I see the point.
I am certainly not missing that.
A Britain that has easily accessible drugs is not a country I would choose to live in. There are pros and cons to doing that kind of thing, but I think the question really falls onto the competency of our government? Not just Labour, but ALL of the parties.

dba where is the continual publicity for Mr Jackson who died at New Year or those of us who have suffered at the hands of violent crims?
Your point that they have lost a daughter holds no interest for me, she took her right to choose and paid the price, so what?

For the record I have been clubbing/DJing for over 10 years and have not once taken any mind altering drug to enable me to have a better time. I have had a bloody good time getting into the whole club scene and culture. Going to clubs does not go hand in hand with taking drugs. Neither does alcohol, as i never drink when clubbing as i find myself with a bears head and knackered by 2 am. The whole "clubs = drugs = alcohol" argument is media induced paranoia and hype IMHO.
I would also like to add that I am an insulin dependant diabetic (and have been for 14 years) and on two occasions, at a club and an outdoor event, had to ask paramedics for help as i had suffered a hypoglycaemic attack (low blood sugar). On both occasions the paramedics were very helpful and I would have been in trouble without them, as fellow clubbers thought i was wasted on drugs.
