An hour and 11 mins!! Thats got to be a record!
I guess Orange are not "ripping" people off so to speak. 90% of people cancelling are cancelling out of opportunity not because they disagree with the tariff changes, or that its even affecting them.
But fair play to being able to use the loophole to get out
Hope you get sorted and get cancelled soon.
Dear Orange...
Do I get a loyalty bonus of some sort for staying with you while everyone jumps ship. Keeping all 6 contracts going must be keeping the call centre going at least?
Or are you gonna put my bills up for posting this link and losing you so many customers lol.

i had a very long but good conversation with orange customer services just now, a guy which told me their legal team has looked through it and if you haven’t exceeded your allowance in the last 3 months from the date of the sent text then you can’t cancel. Apparently its been passed by offcom too. They were letting anyone cancel up until last night, which i might add i was on the phone for 1hr 11mins until i gave in and hung up(as i said earlier)!!!, i'd like to know if anyone has had the same problem today

Oh i tried and he went to the manager, they don't go on future usage and i pushed he read out the terms and condition which explained this and said i could check with offcom. I said about going further back (my bills) and he said its in the t&c's and has been for a long time that they only have to go back 3 months from date of the text. He said its unfortunate but if i'd have got through last night i would have been able to cancel

0800 have gone up ?
They were already charged at normal call rate. I dont ever read the changes lol.
Also personally I am not too sure a solicitor would make mincemeat from Orange. Im sure they check these things with their legal teams from time to time.

in particular there’ll be changes made to costs for web access form your mobile, and the cost of calls not included in your plan (the likes of 0870 numbers and calls made beyond your allowance) will rise from 5p to 14.7p a minute.
Ie, if you havent gone over you allowed minutes in the last 3 months OR if you havent made an 0800, 0870 call in the last 3 months.
So, if you havent had a text yet, ring some 0800, 0870 numbers, then when you get the text (as notification of t&c's changing), you should qualify for disconnection.

Aaah gotcha
Fair play.
Seems most providers now charge quite high figures for these calls.
Cant have everything I guess. Free internet, unlimited texts.... what do you mean you want to charge me for certain calls lol.
I can understand people wanting to change though. But like I say, 0800 etc have not been free for ages, so im not fussed about a few extra pence

Of course, Orange isn’t making it easy for everyone. A common complaint in both the HotUKDeals forums and MSE is that customer services are turning down requests to cancel, because customers either don’t use web services on their mobile, or that they aren’t using their full allowance anyway. This is not a valid reason to refuse a request to cancel. The key is the passage in the terms and conditions that says:
In other words not using the numbers is bs, they made a change to the contract therefore you're within your rights to cancel no matter the usage, go tear them a new one.
“You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in… changes that alter your rights under this Contract to your detriment”

What do you want explaining?
Sending you the text, and you being entitled to the cancellation are seperate issues.

Unofficial but the rumour is they have been told to let EVERYONE cancel, i had a marker on my account as i was told yesterday and that i couldn’t cancel. just rang now and they cancelled within 5 mins.
I was on hold for 20 mins so hold on as i imagine there are a lot of people trying again now.
Good luck.

This is what i can't get my head round, if it is only affecting 15% of customers like they told me the other day (although that could be another lie) and to the average amount of 50p a month if you do use a few 0870 numbers etc, then why not just leave the T&C's the same and change people over come renewal time Instead of people leaving with £300-£500 pound phones, by their own stats leaving the T&C's the same would cost them £6 per customer if 12 months left on a contract.
Just doesn't make sense why they would do this

I would have thought the people who go over their minutes are the real money spinners for any network, so in essence, they would make more money if these people paid more for out of bundle usage.
What they didnt count on was a mini revolution using the internet as a soapbox to shout about how unfair it was.
I hope all the networks learn a lesson from this.

Yes lucko. That's my plan. My business partner wants an iphone but they are out of stock and I'm not convinced about o2. May just stay with orange and see whether there is a decent iphone competitor or Orange release it later in the year.

Another U-turn. Orange ARE NOT changing the prices and have reverted back to the OLD terms and conditions, spinning the story that people were "confused" about the message, lol.

LOL.... but now they'll just increase the charges in phases, so as to get them to where they wanted them but without incurring the "unreasonable" clause in the contract that allows everyone that wants to to cancel...
It may take them a little longer to increase the charges, but they'll do it - and they'll do it more quietly than before and with zero risk of losing customers to cancelled contracts.

Even better news
Not only have they given me (and the Mrs) and an extra 600 minutes a month, now they're not changing the prices. Just hope they don't try and cancel our 'new' extra 600 mins. agreement.
