Sorry to hear this.

I don't want to take this off topic, but I have to mention it: Don't let your insurance company bully you into using their "approved" repairer. They might blind you with a load of BS, but its your car you can have it repaired anywhere you like. Providing its not written off, of course.

I'm only saying it in the interests of getting the car repaired to a high standard and not rushed through the typical insurance repairer's (or dealer's )bodyshop with quality suffering as a consequence.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Agree with this, there is a thread on mlr where the car came back in a worse condition than when it went in! Your car, your choice.

I live in Hall Green mate, Ill keep my ears and eyes open for you..

I would take a trip down to the 24hr tesco's on any week night.... there are a few low lifes that hang aroung there in scoobies .. see if your parts are on any of the ones that roam around there. They wont be bright enough to have painted them 1st before putting them on there car.

Hope you find them mate... i had it happen to me last year.. Jealous scum is all i can say. I cant put on here what i would do to them if i caught them, think we should adopt hand chopping off for thieves like that.

Hope all goes well with the insurance anyway mate.

As much as I fell out with them, Scooby Clinic's bodywork, painting and accident repairs are superb. The quality of the job they did was never my gripe with them and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you take your P1 there if it can be repaired.

Its to stop people putting the mileage back to get a better valuation for there car from the insurance company bud

webby,

Just a word of advice but make sure the insurance company know what the car is. i.e. a P1 not just a late classic Impreza. I say that as although the people who deal with your premium have the car no doubt listed correctly as a P1 the loss adjustor may not understand the significance of the P1 and value the car at a lower value than they should and hence write it off.

Be ready to show other P1 values to support any claim etc. Hopefully you will be fine, but nothing like being prepared.

Very sorry to hear about this. Personally I doubt the parts will appear for sale as I think they are just vandals and nothing more. Parts will probably be lying in a ditch nearby or the likes. Thieves don't stop to carve words into the paintwork no matter how dumb they are. I would even go as far as to say that I think they were possibly targetting someone and got the wrong car.

Default small consolation

I sold my P1 to a dealer and it was stripped in much the same way, however only a couple of months later a car turned up at the dealers to be serviced with said parts on.... not sure what the outcome was but they def got collared!!!

Spoke to the guy at the insurance repair shop, he sounds clueless and said the quote was 6K No wonder cars get written off so easily. I phoned my insurance and they said i could get a quote myself at my own choice of garage. So its going into Mark at thwaites Developments in the morning, where i know it will be repaired properly and not written off by a ridiculous quote. No wonder insurance is so expensive when insurance approved repairers charge so much

Sorry to hear the bad news, but when Mark and Paint Masters have finished with it you'll be well impressed!
Just had my 22b rep front bumper sprayed there a few weeks back and they did a stirling job!

so much
To be fair, its usually the other way round; As to be affiliated with the insurer they need to be seen to give them "favourable" rates in return for a large throughput of vehicles sent their way. Thats not easy to do whilst remaining profitable (whilst maintaining high quality standards).

Whats more likely is they didn't want to repair the car as its too messy a job to get through their bodyshop quickly. So pad the quote and get it written off; if it gets passed for repair, then its a bonus.

Doesn't matter anyway; your getting it done where you want it done, thats the important thing

I did get that impression from the bodyshop guy, he was fairly blase'. Plus the place was just full of fleet cars.
