location

these are a few things but there is more.

My Scoob insurance went up by well over a hundred pounds when I moved about a mile in the same town. Only the last letter of the postcode changed.

From that site the area in question is classed as a C.

When I moved to another C area in a completely different area, my insurance went up by several hundred pounds.

don't forget yr more likely to be at risk in a really decent area, because the house is likely to be worth robbing.

making a sweeping statement, a flat/house on a hsg estate is likely to have nothing of value in it.

Every insurance company will employ its own team that check statistics such as crime figures and road traffic accidents all over the country on a monthly basis. They then advise the underwiters for their company on the results who then work out what area or grouping they will put material facts such as postcode.

Every insurer works individually usually, hence the reason why the prices are so wide ranged when your searching for insurance.

Not sure how accurate that list is - our village is shown as E, but in the last 3 years there has been 1 ! case of a stolen car, and very little other crime apart from a bit of vandalism.

But - our postcode prefix also covers part of the nearby town, which has some pretty rough areas, so I suppose this alters the balance.
