I got myself a second car again - an MX-5. Cheap as chips, but *so* much more rewarding to drive than the subaru...

Get something that handles well, even my 20 year old mx-5 outhandles/outbalances the scoob (although it does have fairly new suspension, to be fair). It's such a joy to drive!

If I had more money to spend, I'd probably get an elise, exige or a caterham/westie/similar.

M5 or RS4 for me, I was considering R34, but I'm not so sure anymore..

I'll always have an Impreza though, it is my favourite all round car!

Actually changed from an M5 to my current 56 Scooby as wanted something with a bit of more fun. Despite having M5 I think overall I preferred my 328i BMW as comfy and decent performance. But hey the current 56 plate Scooby has been great and I'd prob go for top of the ranch new STI if changing next year.

.

i drove one of these a while ago and i dont get what all the fuss is about. It was seriously slow and the handling was nothing special either.

After 3 scoobs I am really itching to try an Evo.

Im thinking an FQ 340. Tuning it to 400/400 for not a lot of money and maybe bigger brakes and a few handling mods.

Something like an RS4/M5 would be out of my price range and i dont do many miles anyway so the comfort/cruising factor of those cars would be negated.

Had an Evo and moved to the STI, If you like the sound and the recognition of 'look its a scooby' then forget the EVO. Great car but no way I would go back to another.

Seems odd that the Evo is the choice of what car to have next, do you all consider it to be an upgrade on the Subaru ?, If thats the case I am more than happy downgrading to my classic STI.

As for what car next, It all depends on what cash is available when me and the Scoob decide to part company. (head says TDI golf, Heart says you must be having a laugh !)

I ws thinking the exact same thing the other day...where do i go from a Type R...pretty much anything is going to feel slower and less of a performer, so id have to say an EVO would be the next step really, but watch out for the servicing intervals on the older ones! Id been thinking of changing from the Type R to a blobeye, but i test drive them, then come back to the Type R and think, no, this is where its at!

I wouldnt neccesarily say it was an upgrade, but a change to something similar but with similar but also very different characteristics than a scoob....if money wasnt an object, then it would have to be a GTR! I wouldnt go back to FWD with the exception of a Focus RS as they are quite special.

ive just recently got a tvr tuscan,,,, aint got rid of the scooby though as i love the drive of it,,,, and they aint worth **** all so no point selling it imo

i LOVE the look of the tuscan but i dont like the drive of it,,,, not as fast as i hoped it would be and too twitchy not to mention has the turning circle of a cargo ship

if i was to sell up it would be a evo,,,,, just tbh there aint anything extra the evo does for the extra outlay in cash

its hard to beat the impreza when you look at the cost of em, though the cost of mods is a ****ing joke compared to a evo

Ive just got rid of my newage STi couple of weeks back and went for the Evo 8 FQ400....what a machine compared to the Impreza! Although already mentioned servicing is a killer, every 4.5k miles.

Personally I went to a MKV R32 DSG, not as much fun as the Subaru though has decent pace when needed but gets far less unwanted attention and now am awaiting delivery of a 335ix-drive, which I think is one of the very best cars I have ever driven (never thought I would be a BM owner but...) and better even than the mighty RS4 :-0
