lol I would get emailing him now. Might tell you to refuse delivery or something if its gonna be no good to you. (assuming its coming by courier)

I would be getting mighty pi55ed already.

So, you gonna check another network for the phone, see about a different phone on Voda, or do as you threatened and become a hermit lol

Good point - email on the way.

Dan

**edited to add - not pi55ed in any way now. It's gone past that, and I'm finding it quite funny now!! **

Further confirmation received from the Vodafone techies that the satnav doesn't work with this handset, yet the retentions guy still wouldn't believe me!!LOL!!

PAC code received via return of email

Will see what's what. Time to reflect now, although it is quite liberating!!

My take is that the only reason why O2 aren't competitive is that they invested SO much money in the iphone acquisition, their handset budget was severely compromised.

And now they've got the Palm device too, well, I don't see lots of decent handsets coming to O2 for a while....

all imho of course

tbh i can't agree more

i've just switch onto the simplicity thing or what ever its called, runs month by month and only £20 for same mins etc that i was on (was £35 a month). Only need to give em a months notice so as soon as i decide what i'm doing i can kick em into touch.

theya re due to get the n97, but there waiting till the bugs get sorted out, although reports seem to be the bugs are more or less sorted so might arrive soon

Yeh - had the SAME issues yesterday. To get the Touch Pro 2 or the Touch Diamond 2 was getting ridiculous

Many "online" places wouldn't let you return the phone if you'd taken it out of the box (!) How the **** are you meant to try it??!!!

And the tariffs were getting silly too if you wanted it for a half decent price.

So I ended up going for something fruity

If they're that much grief to get hold of, there must be a reason IMHO!!

You are probibly right. I did wonder if Orange had withdrawn it because of issues and that a lot were being returned under warranty.

But the only place where i have found any quantity of owners is XDA-Developers and they are reporting only minor niggles?

So you have given into the hype still lots of people seem to like the iPhone i just couldnt manage with out a keyboard.

I suspect i will end up joining Vodabuisness and getting the TouchPro2 through them i just didnt want to leave orange and lose my loyalty credit but i dont want to buy a complex handset like that from a third party as if it does have issues they will just leave you dangling.

or maybe just get another handset on a 12 month contract and sell it and continue to use my SE P990i and see what is around in 12 months time

LOL - well, I'm a heavy Mac-user anyway, with my music production. The entire house is Mac too.
I'm fully aware that the iPhone's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it was always on my shortlist, even though I really wanted to opt for an alternative. They were the HTCs, but they were getting VERY difficult to get hold of.
And quite frankly, life is too short!!

I actually managed to get a bit of a deal on the handset, (not on the contract though), and a very good price for my old (knackered N95).

So, I've now got TomTom7 on it It's sync'd to my contacts/calendar. Everything's pretty much up and running - just got to wait for my old number to be activated properly on Monday.

I tried to resist - I REALLY did!!

However, virtually every path put in front of me was closed if I wanted a particular deal and HTC (with "thanks" to Boro - was VERY tempted mate )

I *will* look at them after this contract - one thing's for sure though: this next 18 months is going to be VERY interesting for phones. It has to be with the woeful offerings available at the moment - everybody must be designing new things!!! LOL!!

Dan - I'm weak. Yep, I said it. Will give you time to think about that

Haha not knocking you at all mate, not for one second. iPhone is a great phone if thats what you want/like. And being in a Mac enviroment, it kinda makes sense

Indeed the coming 2 years will be crazy for phones, which way will they go next.
One option is the splitting of devices again.

The watch phone is popular, complete with bluetooth headset. Compact, hard to put down and forget, and no bulky pockets.
LG have just launched theirs on Orange, and if I do say so, it actually looks really cool.

Now use that connection, and tether it to an iTouch type device, and that could please some. Of course, just an option, but with the technology branching out in so many directions, its gonna be a good time.

No worries - I knew you weren't knocking at all. I fully expected some ribbing after my protestations surrounding the iphone!

Was very interesting watching the Gadget show about this lot (not that I take the show too seriously - its testing isn't exactly rigorous!) - the Korean vs UK tech etc....

Will be watching with great interest

I can't help but feel for the people that work in retentions after reading all of this If they are told they don't do a phone on a non-business agreement, do you really think they give a **** how much you spend per month or how long you've been with the telephone provider of your choice, the chances are they don't even work directly for the company you are ringing. They are just there for beer tokens and an easy life.

THUS why you haven't got a Touch Pro2.

LOL - me fears that you haven't actually read the entire story. (Can't say I'm surprised on Scoobynet tbh )

THIS thread was a spin-off from another one also started by me. Try reading this one - HERE

The gist, if you can't be ar$ed is simple - the phone company MIS-SOLD me a phone (the one I wanted). They lied to me.
What followed was a series of incompetence (and here IS where I will take you comment with some credence), so I *can* see where you're coming from regarding that fact that the teams are lower-level sub-workers who aren't really interested (at Vodafone, for certain, as the evidence points to at least two in this category)

Due to a modicum of customer loyalty, I tried to overlook the aforementioned issues and resolve the matter in a way that I would be satisfied. The harder I tried, the more idiotic it became.

Hence after nearly a month of grief, I thought, "enough is enough", and walked into O2 and bought an iPhone.

The impression given from your post is that of an attempt at being a smart ar$e - if that's your "thing", good luck. Just make sure you have ALL the facts before diving into murky waters - it might be shallow

i have read both you threads Scoobydoo555 so you didn't need to give me the gist. From my post, i was pointing out these guys are just their doing a job they don't care about, you are/where just another twonk on the phone giving them aggro. The call centre worker that sent you out the wrong phone probably didn't know/care eitherway.

There is no such thing as a customer loyalty factor.

No need to get your knickers firmly in a twist but judging my your keen sense of humour i can only assume you were a joy to speak too for the callcentre agent.
