they should not be driving in areas where wild animals are free to roam.
So thats pretty much any road..in the world...anywhere,anytime. Certainly see the odd dear on the way to the station early in the morning round my way...

This from Over2You from Horse and Hounds.

There is something else that really bothers me about this tragedy. If the area was known to be inhabited by wild horses, then why the hell did they not find another location where an encounter was far less likely?? They cancelled some off-road 4x4 event not that long ago here in UK, after concerns were raised about possible harm to wildlife and habitats. Too bad the flipping Argentines weren't as concerned about their beautiful horses. That horrid driver obviously didn't give two-hoots about that poor horse, or he would have stopped. He was more concerned about his precious position in the race than a sentient being. People like him are scum!! Most motor-sports really get me narked anyway. World leaders talk about regular drivers polluting the planet and to only use the car when absolute need be. Yet, there those racing drivers are, tearing up the countryside, killing goodness knows how many innocent creatures. All the while adding to the ever-growing mass of carbon in the atmosphere. They then use the excuse that they are using/experimenting with bio-fuels. Have they ever heard of the food crisis? There is hardly enough crops for us and our animals, let alone fuelling their juice guzzlers!

I also agree that there should be some kind of expose on the daily carnage in the countryside - particularly in the New Forest. Either that or drastically reduce the top speed of cars. People managed years ago when cars were much slower. If only we could go back to that more relaxed way of living. No more impatient sods yelling and going hell for leather on the horn if they have to wait any more than a minute for a light to change. Or losing their temper if they can't get past a tractor or horse and rider. We should definitely go back in time and enjoy the benefits of not needing everything done yesterday.
What a complete ****!!!

can't help but larf about the posters, most horse owners shoot them the first sign of them having anything remotley wrong with them.

Joking apart,

its sad that the horse got hit and had to be put down, but welcome to the real world, where animals and people do get hurt.

What if it was a mouse or rabbit that got killed - would we have the same rash comments & outrage? I think not.

GAGOR is my new internet slang term for this.

I think the press should call the horse "Pegasus" and make a charity collection for its foals.

I think this thread needs a bit of balance.

It is quite tragic what happened here, and whilst I agree that many of the comments posted on the other sites are ott, its hardly worthy of the laugh some of you fcukwits appear to be having.

Not only was it an horrific experience for the animal in question, it could also have been fatal for the crew.

I seem to remember tree 1 Michael "Beef" Park 0, yet no one found that particularly amusing.

On all counts, running a rally through an area known to be populated with large animals who, lets face it, are not that savvy about the dynamics of fast moving rally cars, should be undertaken with a greater duty of care, and more attention to the areas in question.

Some people are far too sentimental about these ****-witted animals. Hardly ever, in the entire animal kingdom has so much mass been controlled by so little grey matter.

Not a big fan of horses then Bubba

They have the mental capacity of 3-4 year olds. No big deal then if we muller a few toddlers when out and about in our cars?

After all, they would have a similar sense of awareness.

Ok, so the parents may get upset, but its not like they can't just make a new one, is it?

It has taken a few posts, but now this thread looks like it may be getting somewhere

So, who is up for a drive into the local council estate to find young "naive" single mum who just happens to have a bunch of kids to get a free house and a nice heap of benefit cash each week?

Its a terrible accident, Its distressing that the horse was so badly injured that it had to be put down. The blokes in the car were also very lucky to get away with it as lightly as they did.

It is no laughing matter that the horse was killed and had such a frightening and painful experience as well.

What utter twaddle! They don't have complex language, they cant use symbolism via art, they have no concept of their own mortality.... need I go on? Most toddlers have all these mental skills. If people didn't like to fart about putting leather seats on them and riding them around pretending they had some sort of control over the great galooting feejit of an animal, they'd be purely a meat product.

And they walk about on their fingernails, which is daft as well.

Are you glad about what happened to this horse then?
