[voice of reason] Yes it is a shame the the horse was killed. What is annoying is the over reaction of the comments and the sensationalism behind the story. Animals die every day. Period. Many of them in cruel and unusual ways. Do a google on Egyptian Swine Flu Pig Cull to put this story into context! To call for a ban on rallying or to clear the stage of wild animals or fence off the road etc. etc. is the laughable aspect of the story. [/voice of reason]

Of course not, but in the context of more serious world tragedies I can't believe the attention given to it. Far, far worse things happen to human beings every day that aren't given this kind of attention. The difference here is we have a spectacular video to watch which stimulates the debate. Hundreds of pedestrians die in front of cars every day, but no-one's talking about closing all the roads and banning cars, are they? I'm just being flippant and baiting the horsey types to make a point.

Absolutely. Fecking disgrace. But then racing is about money, not horses.

interesting to compare this thread to the recent one regarding the dogs left to die in a van by some copper

on the previous thread the general consensus seemed to be that the copper was guilty of a crime in the same league as the Baby P murderers

on this thread it seems to be slightly more pro rally car

would it have been different if it had been a dog that was hit, and the rally car was being driven by a off duty copper

Of course! Never attempt to rationalise the kangaroo court of public opinion.
