http://www.compbrake.co.uk/4%20pot%20leaflet.pdf

I recently sold a set of Porsche 6 pots to simb2 and these are nothing like what you have on your car, (Porsche use brembo calipers anyways)
TBH when I had the calipers fitted I was told that they were Porsche calipers but only after Ian from Godspeed pointed out that they were CompBrake 4 pot calipers which are a 'copy' of the Porsche 4 pot calipers which at first I naively believed were 6 pots.

What I said was tongue in cheek and a bit of a in-joke between Red2, Scooby401 and myself who remind me from time to time of my error. When I called into see Ian from Godspeed a couple of weeks ago to pick up a set of DS2500 pads I asked him about overhauling and painting the calipers he did state that the overhaul kits he will be using are in fact Porsche Brembo kits.

The calipers are working perfectly and I am happy with the performance but I am going to get them overhauled at the same time as being repainted in red as having worked in the motor trade I feel this is good practice. As I do not like the carbon fibre effect this is my only reason ( and no I will not be having Porsche stickers put on ).

Actually I was being sarcastic or even ironic as the calipers were never red.

And it might also be worth your while looking at the following archived thread

https://www.scoobynet.com/archive/in.../t-553202.html

Plus the Ferodo DS2500 brake pads that are currently installed in the calipers are FCP891H which I am sure are a Porsche fitment as below

FCP891H Ferodo Brake Pads DS2500 from Pole Position USA, Ferodo Distributor

Thanks for your observations and input.

i just fitted mintex 1144 on my type-R with grooved disks, they seem ok on 1st impressions, yet to push them hard, if you want $hit hot pads go for carbotech, best pads ive ever had in a road car, a little more expensive at £150 but well worth it if tou want to stop really quickly.

Thanks Tristan

Does seem to depend on driving style a lot - I've had no problems with the red stuff, and find them fine once warmed up ( and havent managed to melt them, make them fall apart or damaged the discs ! ).

However, I dont use my car on the track, and on the road I dont tend to use the brakes much as I mainly use the gears / engine braking / observation rather than hammering up to a corner as fast as possible and standing on the brake pedal at the last second so they probably dont get pushed as hard as the pads on some cars, or overheated as easily.

With the EBC vented discs and red stuff pads, I found the brakes much better than the OE stuff that was fitted previously.

Might try some Mintex when they are due for changing, but I think a lot of it is down to personal choice and driving style as to what people feel is better.
