Unfortunately, there are 36 Simon Overton's on the electoral registers. But I have all the addresses if you need to cross reference any of them.

Hi guys I feel for the people that have shelled out money.. it would be nice to think that people can be trusted.. from an experiance that happened to me a few years ago (spoiler stolen off my car then put up for sale on Ebay) The police can get all the information on people that use paypal and Ebay. They did it for me and another guy that had the same happen by the same crook and the guy got done for it and I got my £1500 for my spoiler.. I am noticing that allot of young chav's are driving scooby's now there cheap as chips.. just watch out who you deal with.. ask for a phone number and address before paying and ring them before paying and tell them that if the goods do not turn up then police will be told, get pictures off them of the goods your paying for and allways pay via bank transfer not Paypal, that way you can get the money ripped out of there account by your bank if you dont get the goods. They will also know that all there information is included as it's there bank details!
I hope it all works out for you guys...

Also reguarding going to The isle of white. in my opinion its going to be a wasted journey. if hes been in touch and cant give you a landline or a work number(check the area code) that you get him on anytime or wont refund you then the address is going to be bogus. He has only said the isle of white so you wont bother to go to all the trouble of getting there. Im sure we would all love to go over there and hurt him if he had done it to us but your going to be even more peed off when you waste even more money on a wild goosechase.
Just my opinion
By the way ive got 50 brand new 2.5 sti complete engines for sale £500 each for quick sale. payment by paypal gift only. sorry no collection as i live on a barge and never in the same place twice.

Just a quick note from experience. i did a bank transfer from my bank to the same bank(different branch) then got no goods. got in touch with the bank and they could do **** all about it as i sent the money of my own free will. tranfering money gives no details of what the transfer is for. so if you send it the bank cant get it back. I contacted police and gave them all the details i had then heard nothing since. Also paypal can only refund you money if there is money in the offending account to give you(which would porobably be long gone) if the culprit has taken or used the money from the account you get **** all. Hope this helps someone in the future.

That's not to say that I don't believe it will absolutely be possible to track this guy down, one way or another (assuming he doesn't decide to show his face voluntarily - you never know).

For the record Mr F... The ecu was not purchased off here for a start. It was purchased on subaru central... Mr F runs a so called specialist SUBARU GARAGE yet amazingly did not know the difference between the STI ECU and the WRX ecu .. the difference being variable valve timing.. The price was £200 and i dropped the price to £150 for a quick sale. Now i'm assuming MR F the SUBARU SPECIALIST would have known the difference, at the time i didn't.
When you buy a second hand part its just that second hand. He wanted his money back i agreed..... But then being banned from a site that he sponsors i thought ok if its like that ok TOUGH
People never give the full story do they i have been a member here for years and have bought and sold items with NO PROBLEMS EVER!!!
Its just a case of someone trying to get something cheaper... Not doing their homework and then crying about it!!
SUBARU SPECIALIST MY $%^&
His site!!
Japanese and Korean specialists Wolverhampton

I feel i started the light heartedness sorry and as i put hope you get sorted. As it goes just had one of my paypal claims resolved But they charged me an extra £9.80 for it perhaps all these people messing with us work for paypal
#75
Paypal did resolve one of my disputes before. they can freeze the monies till its resolved. the problem lies when the money has already gone then even if you win the dispute they have no money to give you back.
If its a scam then the culprit will know this and have the cash long gone by the time you start to smell a rat.
What amazes me is how much hassle it is to get a paypal account with all the verifications etc and links to banks. but people still manage to rip people off.
My bank was the worst because i thought by transfering money to another account at the same named bank i would be protected. but because all i did was transfer the cash. they had no knowledge of what it was for so they had no reason to look into it. It was like me sending him a gift. They are only interested if someone has taken money from your account without authorisation. And even if you get hold of the culprit all he has to do is say he posted the goods and kept no record of it. or the money was a gift/loan/debt.
An idea is to have a Scoobynet paypal holding account that can act as an intermediary. buyer pays money to scoobynet, they confirm payment to seller, seller sends goods recorded, buyer confirms reciept. scoobynet pays seller. Or holds on to money if there is a dispute. and takes a commission from both parties to cover costs and go to the running of the site. im not sure how scoobynet works or even if this sort of idea is viable but it might even be profitable for the site.

Be careful out there chaps, if you can then speak to the seller in person and question your item and request a piccy or two, at least that way you know it half exists. Ideally always ask for a Landline contact tel. number rather than a mobile. Landlines are always a better option than a mobile which are difficult to trace!!

Whats to stop folk setting up a fake paypal account and just using it to buy other goods from honest members using the money theyve robbed from other members?
It seems Stevetease had blown the engine in his Subaru going from his recent threads.
I know its a long shot but has anyone on here sold an engine to fit his car or parts for an engine rebuild? Then you could cross reference the paypal address's?
For example, you paid abc123@hotmail.com £200 for goods that never came.
Another member on here might have received a payment for goods from abc123@hotmail.com therefore will have his postage address.
Just a thought.....

That might well be the case but theres easier ways to bump up your post count.
BTTT, LMAO, things like that.
There has to be a system put in place some way or another before this is going to stop.
The more times people get robbed and dont catch the culprits, the more frequent this will happen. While I understand your how you feel and that you want to let others know so they dont fall into the trap, we're basically advertising the fact that we've been done and can do f@ck all about it.
Its happened to me too. Now I wont buy anything on here unless I have spoken to the person on a landline and then I always send a cheque. Takes longer but less chance of being done.

I think the earlier idea of scoobynet setting up a paypal accouunt and holding the money till the goods are received is a great idea....obviously scooby net would have to make a chrage to the seller for the goods.Say 5p in every £5 ,It would also pay for the upkeep of some of the forum cost...

Hi all,
I've been ripped off too.
I bought gauges too, and never received it.

And I live from Reunion Island... so it's difficult to do something !

Steve, or Simon, or whatever your name is......
complaint has now been reported to the police and if there's any justice, hopefully you'll be recieving a knock on your door in the not too distant future.
Rest assured that if they do find you, i WILL be pressing charges

Also using the excuse that he need the money for his rebuild. I think that might be the reason he's robbing people.
Whats the paypal address he asked you all to pay money into? Is it the same account? If so, has anyone received a payment for parts from that paypal address?
