Painted / Polished Inlet Manifolds

I'm told by one of our tech guys he thinks that the bronze brush used carefully will remove some of the crinkled effect in the finish and make it easier to polish, like many things it's all trial and error finding this out. You can see now why I suggest if anyone can find somewhere to polish it at a resonable price to go for it To polish this with a drill would be a serious amount of work I would not want to try it, after starting this I've had my eyes opened more than a little
EMB that is impressive !!!

See for me, that's ripe for etch priming, then a couple of coats of high build primer to fill any imperfections left and then a quick rub down and paint to a silky smooth high gloss finish.
Nice work though fella. Bet it took you a few hours to get to that stage?

Been using a high speed drill with three different grades of polishers (mops I believe is the technical term lol), might go back to the more coarse and start again, been a real PITA so far even to get to this stage

Top marks for getting it that polished!
I completely lost the will to live when I was doing mine. I ended up buying a Spec C manifold in the end and painting it the same colour as the car

I would suggest from where you are you go go with a 2 mop finish, you may get away with single mop but I'd do the 2 myself... not without wishing to sound like an anorak here I'd first go for a Climax mop with some Steelbrite Compound (this is also called "Blue" as that's the colour or the bar) then after that finish with a Swansdown mop again with Steelbrite on it.... feed the compound little and often onto the mop as not to overload it and that will come up a treat.
Right I'm off now

I did make a start on mine then realised just how much work there was and I could not find the time to get stuck into it over winter....
I got that far then had a very reasonable quote from a polisher via a customer we deal with in work. When he then looked at the manifold he decided he had under estimated slightly but he stuck to his quote and I'm expecting it back any day now

Your nearly there a finishing mop on that now with some fine compound, that will bring the shine up.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe you can explain this to me then ok I already have gave it a going over with the 2 and the finishing mop, I have only used the grey the polish stuff for the first mop (the coarse one) then I used the pink stuff for the 2 mop and the finishing mop with the pink polish, I have got a blue bar but thought this was for non ferrous metals only?

I'll use this link for reference........ Polishing Compounds
When you see "cut and colour" it means you cut into the metal plus it will shine it, colour is shine.
Aluminium is a non ferrous metal Non-ferrous metals one of our reps that retired advised me that simply using Carbrax MG to start with which gives a good cut and also colours well plus a bar of Blue is all you ever need to polish non ferrous with.... get the blue out and give it a go there
Where about's in the country are you Dunk ?
