No worries, it' nice to share some info about things like this and help someone out. Where I am firm believer in paying back what you owe, chasing ancient or non-exiting debt annoys me and is wrong.

You know what, I bet the money that they're chasing is from those old charges. Banks are sneaky here and add interest and "fees" to things like this, that's why the amount they state you owe is always more than what you may think. They leave the debt running for a few months to accrue interest before closing it off. The benefit, if anyone actually owes money to a DCA, is that once they buy it, interest freezes so the amount can only ever go down.

Glad you're all over the Statute stuff snazy, more people should be aware of this and the rules surrounding debt collection.

FYI, the people governing debt collectors are the Credit Sevice Association. Here are some of the regulations that they MUST follow

Its always nice to get advice from someone in the know once in a while, and not a whole loada bull from "what I would do is deal with them myself, thats how we roll here" and all that lol.

I agree mate, while I have been cheeky in some past settlements, I am happy to pay back what I owe, when I can of course.
The funny thing about the bank charges that made me close the account were they were for a bank representing a cheque over and over and over, instead of returning to drawer. Which they agreed should not have happened.

I wouldn't worry, just carry on as you have been, it'll most likely come to nothing and if it does...STATUTE !

What we really need here is someone who works for the bank themselves as when I spoke to them they didn't know their head from their **** so how the hell was I supposed to clear matters up. I tell ya, going through and deciding which cases were legitimate or not was hard work...so glad I didn't have to do collections, the poor phone operators used to get a right ear bashing.

Hi all

Just joined this forum after googling CapQuest Scam and saw this thread.

Snazy, I am in EXACTLY the same boat as you, and my "fake" Abbey letter also stated I would be getting a statement soon.

My question is Snazy, did you get yours?

Cheers
