I suppose with white Evo 8s being relatively rare it was always going to be difficult to keep a secret for to long. I went and viewed the car with Darren and was pleasently supprised by the attention to detail and over all condition. The car was built by rampage performance with mostly the entire HKS parts list thrown at it with very little expense spared with all the mapping work carried out by Owen Developments on a Motec M800, these two companies built the Evo VII MR FQ400 so are highly regarded in the Evo tuning world. The engine has covered a little over 1000 miles and runs switchable fuel maps between V Power and race fuel and comes with additional features such as full knock control and 1 MB data logging for complete engine performance analysis. An additional feature the M800 is capable of is gear change ignition cut for flat throttle gear changes which the Gobstopper uses so there is plenty of extra performance to be squeezed from her without the need of running a bigger turbo. But if the need ever strikes the engine is rated upto 1000 bhp but for optimum reliablity I think 500 bhp is enough.

Blinking hell that is expensive who are you insured with?

I changed to Keith Michaels and my insurance is £509 with all mods current and planned already declared, protected NCB, £250 excess (I think) plus all the other usual inclusions.

I believe Darren is currently insured through A Plan so he is going to try and shop around tomorrow for a reasonable quote from one of the brokers associated with MLR. Pace Ward brokers can include trackday cover which in turn works out cheaper than paying for cover before each event. As the car is going to be mostly used for sprints and trackdays rather than an everyday road car.

Try Admiral for your car insurance - i've started a multi car policy and my insurance has gone from £950 a year to £414.
The missus policy went from £480 to £300 on her Golf GTi also.

They only wanted £395 to insure the M3 CSL i've been looking at
