A homosexual is someone attracted to the same sex. As I understand it Gay means homosexual I.e can apply to men or women. Lesbian is a term reserved for Homosexual women. My view is If your born a man it doesnt matter what you get cut off your still a man - I would say the two in question are gay.
I don't get why its not acceptable to call a homosexual a Homo. Its an abbreviation FFS. On The same Note I don't get whats wrong with calling a Pakistani a paki, Hell they can call me a Brit if they want.
Also, SSU - 6 Threads on the front page of NSR. Do you have a life?????????????

Does anyone remember that programme where they tracked the (mis)adventures of a Lesbian couple, both of whom felt they were transgender and underwent gender reassignment, with the hormone treatment, *****/******* construction and everything else that that entails. Surprise, surprise, when they became men, neither of the feckin' freaks fancied each other! How far can the medical profession go in chasing their tails at the whims of psychological basket-cases like these? Unbelieveable.

Because the first two "abbreviations" have for more than thirty or forty years been utilised as demeaning terms of abuse, whereas the other one has no such connotation. If you can't see that then you're either thick or you're deliberately trying to provoke a rise. Or maybe you're getting a thrill out of repeating the terms of abuse under the cover of legitimate debate?

Just replace it with "Sheep *******" for the third non PC term
Who cares what they are "labelled"? As long as they don't force their lifestyles down other people's throats ....... and aren't interfering with anyone else, I don't see why the big fascination?

Hardly thick, not after a rise from anyone and definitely didnt get a thrill from it. Any other half soaked ideas bouncing round in that empty skull of yours?
The problem with any form of terminology for a minority is that whatever you happen to rename them, it always ends up being a NON PC word eventually.
Personally, i can't keep up with the changes, so no doubt at some point i will offend someone by using a word thats a year or two out of date and considered offensive.

Stop blustering. Why can't you see the difference between the terms for yourself, without asking for someone to point it out for you?

To me, they are just abbreviated words, so at some point they must have been completely fine to use and then at some point became offensive. The thing is, how are you supposed to know when the change takes place.
Words like halfcast were fine when i was growing up but are they now? Obviously the abbreviation for Pakistani is an obvious NON PC word but how far are we away from Pakistani becoming offensive.

Well I'll tell you why they were completely fine to use once. It's because the users of those names dominated the culture, and the recipients of those names had to keep feckin' quiet, or nod and grin because they were in the subservient position. In this day and age, no-one has to put up with being called by names that they find offensive.

Reading this thread is a good indication of how we are as a society. Due to the granny state / over PC'ing, we have no idea what we can / cant say.
What started out as a simple question has transformed into a thread about what words are considered PC / non PC.
Bring back the era of the Carry on Films :-)

Just watch it if you don't mind!
Well for a start they both seem to be "transgender". If they consider themselves women then they would be behaving as lesbians.
The point is though, do you actually know how they behave and whether they have a sexual relationship anyway?
Can't really see that it is of any importance anyway what they get up to-good luck to them.

Pete, your "mate" is gay is he?
If your mate (0r partner) is gay, then I can now see why you're asking these questions. You're thinking about getting the operation, aren't you?
Or perhaps you both already have. Its really you and your partner you're asking about isn't it. Go on, you can be honest with us, we won't tell anybody.

I am dumbfounded at how some people on sn can get on their soapbox about stupid meaningless subject and hype it up up to be massively important, yet when it comes to the use of words such as Paki and Homo's they seem to play the ignorance card and let it slide under the carpet.
Hypocritical...... just a little.

All I can do is tut at you.
As much as I love carry on films, and everything they stand for in British film making, I can't help when reading some of your posts, to imagine the cast of This is England in a hazy mist behind you.

Just use the word 'Hobo'
Okay I didn't invent it but fickinghell I use it everywhere now for almost everything... think of it as 'Poor mans Homo' so would be apt for your lady friend with a hairy chest.
