I think what she literally means is that the muppets (not the Muppets) made her feel unwelcome, as her quote below suggests:
The muppets made me feel very unwelcome when I first joined so can understand where Markus is coming from
What a debate on this thread! Just about does it for lunch-munching pastime.
Muppet Show did become unfriendly and unwelcoming for non-humourous fly-killers. Majority of self-nominated funny/cliquey ones put down some invisible rules for newbs to follow. If people failed the preliminary test, they got chased out, or they just felt chased out. I do understand it, hactually. I occasionally felt sorry for the mild to insipid ones. At the end of the day, Muppet Show was originally made for all types of garbage. I know that clique wanted a bit more of "quality" garbage, but I think others could have been allowed to perform in leisure too; at least in their good evenings, good evenings threads
Anyway, I better shurup now.
Have a good lunch.

No.

I think she was pointing her little or even middle finger at the muppets from the Muppet Show that hopped about occasionally in NSR etc., not the Muppet Show. Then again, I might be completely wrong as usual.

It's a public forum and no one has the right to pursue posters out of a forum on SN except the moderators or admin. That may well be why it was closed, the clique were trying and succeeding in taking over the forum by putting others off through abusive and insulting comments. Had there been a bit of live and let live the muppet forum would more than likely still be flying along. If that was correct then for once SDB did the correct thing.
You could also say the quote above applied to CWE and that closed too as that behaviour isn't acceptable under SN's terms and conditions.

Bob, you're just missing the point. Although i assume it's not deliberate. We didn't set out to be nasty to anyone. We were brash, we were forthright, we took the ****, but rarely did it reach the stage of outright nastiness. I remember the lad who was a TA member, can't remember his user id now, and FFS how precious did HE get wehn we posted SAS badges after his jokes?! And so it descended into something it was never intended to be.
Muppets is dead because it needs controversial personalities to create the spark. Otherwise you might as well say hello to real people in the real world, or post it in NSR, because it's not going to offend anyone. So that's what we have now. If that makes Simon's decision correct then that's your opinion, personally i think it was a huge mistake, taken only because the site was being flogged to Stu, and we were seen as potential trouble-makers.

It just seems strange for them to constantly berate this "illuminati" of clique posters, yet when they all got their way, the place died on its ****
I might start posting in it again. I was never banned

My point is Tel about the belittling of people needlessly. You could say the OP of this thread is doing just that. I'm not suggesting the clique was created with that in mind, but it is how it ended up.
I'm sure there are plenty of posters who don't like other posters in the World of SN but the majority don't set out to belittle them. You just avoid them. However it seems certain ones from the clique think it is fair sport occasionally as this thread shows.
Would those that do it do so in the pub or on the street on their own with someone they didn't like or thought wasn't funny? I think not and so it is far too easy to pick on someone from afar which is why there are rules covering that for SN.
Had the banter in muppets been free of nastiness i'm sure the posting numbers per day in muppets would have been more of a selling point than a hinderance. It added a lot to site traffic.

Horses for courses, Bob. People who had the gumption to stand up for themselves quickly found Muppets a fun place to be, most of the time anyway. And it really didn't have anything to do with intellect (eh Karl?!), more an ability to not take one's self too seriously. And i'll maintain to this day that those who felt aggrieved by Muppets were largely those who did take themselves just a little bit more seriously than they either knew or admitted to. That's when a feeling of belittlement takes over. Genuine tensions did arise, i'm not disputing that, but not because The Club, the one you're determined to point the finger towards, deemed it that way. I know, i was there every flippin' day of it! By the time Internet Brands was on the horizon, Muppets had become pretty volatile, i don't think traffic numbers had anything to do with the decision. But i return to the central point that Muppets is now dead because the creativity was banned, let alone discouraged. So no-one gets upset any more. How very pc. I just don't like that sort of "if you can't join them, ban them" sort of approach.

This thread is exactly as I remember the threads being in Muppets.
All remember this, and that and the other...private jokes, winks, funny handshakes..half stories, images that mean nothing to no one except between a handful of people who may have been in CHAT until 3 in the morning the night before.
The way I and others were unwelcome in Muppets, should be the way the ex muppets are welcomed in NSR, as that is were they lurk now, when they are bored of hanging around in their new tent of course.......but that would be childish, and anyone is welcome in the new watch section.
It gets a good post count though.

The depth of belief that there was an organised conspiracy is startling. I'm not sure i know many other ways of saying that there wasn't one. Anybody else want a go?

Kinda been covered but I believe that the main problem occurs because some people have egos that they don't like to be dented
Those who construct a faux wall of coolness around themselves to conceal their inadequacies and insecurities, that they themselves are all too aware of, get upset and twitchy when people start shooting holes in said wall thus exposing their true nature to those around them
Those who genuinely like themselves are comfortable with being ridiculed because they know it doesn't matter
The 'clique' as they are often called simply consist of people who are completely happy to endure any amount of savage p*ss taking, as long as it's funny

I was involved with some in-jokes in muppets and there were a few people I disliked, (although chaos is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. But he was a ****), but although I set out to wind people up on occasion, I can't recall ever feeling anyone shouldn't be there.
Still, I'd been banned and left by the time the Muppet Cleansing occurred, so maybe I missed the worst.
There are some muppets I actively miss, Crush being one. Anyone know what happened to Crush?

I feel excluded from the watch section because I don't own a watch.
Well, I do, but it's a G-Shock and the battery has been dead for something like 2 years now.
