Firstly you had my number which you should have used to discuss the matter with me as far as I knew I had deposit paid ,ferrys paid ,transporter trailor hired and was heading to collect the car today
It was only pure luck that I was on scoobynet late last nite to see that some other guy had put up on his post that he had also bought the same car or I would have made the journey across to find out that another deal had been done and I was going home empty handed and heavily out of pocket.

I have contacted the seller on several occassions today to discuss this and he has promised that he will refund the Ferry fees to me but doesnt know when he will have the money to be able to do this as he is buying another car on Saturday.

I will keep you all posted of what is happening as it happens.I hope this guy does the right thing.

I am cannot do this on a computer as I dont know how .
How do you think I was going to get over to Wales from Ireland and transport the car home??????
You are only saying you are going to refund the money so you dont look like a total gangster ,when infact you really have no intensions of repaying me.

Your clutching at straws there seller. Looking for a way out of your promise to repay yellowevo !! Anyone with a little computer knowlege could generate an invoice for boat tickets and send them to you. Personally I wouldnt trust you with the price of a bus ticket.
Man up and pay the mans expences. He was trusting enough to pay you a deposit unseen but you sold him out presumably for a few pound extra. Shame on you. Shame on you.

I thought on car websites that we were all the same sort of guys who loved our motors and were in the club to get advise, share views, help fellow enthusiasts, and most of all keep each other right in the buying and selling of parts ,cars etc.
I never ever thought that I would have been treated like this by a fellow member of this subaru community .I thought that we all had a bit of respect and a certain trust in each other but this has certainly taken me by suprise.
I am totally disgusted that this guy is making me out to be the liar and cheat here demanding proof that I was definately coming on a ferry to buy this car.
What a dark picture this makes of this site.

Yellowevo I really hope this guy does the HONOURABLE thing and gives you your cash back iv seen the trouble you chaps have to go to when buying cars from the uk, its all go to make ferry deadlines and all the travelling involved. Especially as you even hired a trailer out and sent a deposit all of which you should rightly be reimbursed!!

I am heading to England on Sunday for a car and would like to think it will be there when I go for it.
Yellowevo should not only be getting his fare refunded, but his trailer hire and deposit back.
Disgusting behaviour from a fellow scoobynetter.

Why.....if he had a buyer with a price agreed and deposit paid..boat booked etc did he not just sell it to him?....price dropped rapidly throughout the advert, story changed and everyone wound up ...

Not great practice matey......and to then come online and blame the buyer for not furnishing YOU with proof of boat booking?....thats just taking the pi$$

Wise up...do the right thing...refund all costs and a public apology at the least

Wow what an interesting bunch of ill informed quick to jump easy to judge people we all are today. :S

Ok lets clear this up...

First off Daz & Minty have done nothing wrong but use a sensible business attitude to make a sale of their vehicle.
Secondly the IAM the new owner of the car and it works like this - someone makes an offer in this case (Yellowevo) offer accepted on principal and deposit taken. Payment arranged for on collection I presume. Seller waits to hear from the buyer to arrange a time for collection, waits and here's nothing. (this is my understanding)
Meanwhile Buyer 2 (me) for those who can't keep up and trust me reading some of these comments its likely.. Make a counter Offer (e.g. more money more deposit) and a definite action to come and collect.
Seller being business minded and eager to cover cost I'm sure its pause for thought for anyone.
So correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this how the whole buying/selling process works ? Offer's and acceptance, deposits and a small amount of good faith ?
I'm sorry if anyone feels i have done anything underhanded or not in keeping with the SN way. But I saw something I wanted, I made my offer and I stuck to my terms of the deal.

I deeply regret that there was a discrepancy in time and confusion over collection, but this was out of my control.

YellowEvo - I have told Daz and Minty this, and now I'm telling you - I will contribute towards your ferry booking and monetary loss, I don't have too, nor do i need too, but I know what it's like to be out of pocket over a vehicle.

Your welcome to PM me or email with the details and evidence of your booking, if you think Daz and Minty or Myself are handing you a penny out of good faith without seeing proof then you are misguided. (Would you?)

There was NO scamming NO "dodgy deals" and NO intended upset.

So in conclusion there was no cloak and dagger, no one got defrauded. It's Simple someone outbid someone else...it's called trading.
In addition I've been using this site for many years, i have found it a welcoming and friendly place to solve problems and generally interact with fellow enthusiast.

IrishscoobySti - Up the dosage mate its clearly not working out for you...

Thanks for your time

It's not very good selling behaviour, but on the othe hand all the Irish members posting threats isn't too clever either. It's a car, it's been sold, pick your toys up and move on. There is always another one round the corner.

I dont think anyones is blaming you.
The way a deal works in Ireland and the rest of the civilised world is this:
Seller reduces the price to 3k:
Buyer (yellowevo) contacts the seller and agrees to purchase at this price:
Buyer sends deposit to confirm intentions and agrees on a day/date to collect:
Seller accepts deposit and terms:
This is now deal done where I come from.
BUT
Seller does not mention on the thread that any deal has been completed and you get in contact and offer an alterative deal which the seller also accepts.
By offering to partially refund Yellowevo shows that the new buyer has morals far and beyond that of the original seller and that is commendable.
I believe yellowevo is justified in venting anger and is the wronged party
here. Bieng asked to "prove it" for expences lost has angered him further as he feels that although having done nothing wrong its inferred that he is dishonest.
Daz and Minty have a lot to answer for.

At this point the car is sold! I dont think you are so innocent in the deal either, all the best with the new car.
Why are you offering to help repay costs if you believe that nothing underhand has taken place? Feeling guilty maybe.

Maybe this way of dealing is acceptable in Wales, its certainly not in Ireland North or South and that comes from an Englishman!

to see this happening really pisses me off - i've been "across the pond" on a few occasions to buy vehicles & have always had no probs at all - doubt i've been lucky in that the guys i've bought the vehicles off have been 100% genuine - if an email & fone call agreeing prices & collection details has been accepted by both parties (seller & buyer) i think this should be a binding contract.......

if the seller accepted yellowevo's deposit then the deal was done........at the least pay yellowevo what he's owed to cover the ferry costs....

Agreed albeit "gazumping" does happen with houses & that's what we seem to have here. I don't agree with it, as a deal is a deal ... seller does now look bad IMHO.

I do think that some evidence is required that tickets have been purchased ... why would you not do this if that is all that is needed to be reimbursed for same

TX.

yellowevo - ill photoshop your tickets for you want to remove your details, just pm me for an email address, all i need is a scan or picture/online confirmation page. ill have to obviously see your details but no one else will, and unlike some, im genuine as they come...

Personally i dont accept that it was a buisness decision. If the sale is agreed, and a deposit paid, the car is officially sold unless the buyer dosent turn up on an agreed time. Obviously some people dont have morals and good faith and unfortunately that seems to be the case here, he obviously saw an extra few quid and thought, yeah ill take that instead. It happens unfortunately, but didnt think it would happen amongst enthusiasts.

No ones blaming the new owner at all i dont feel, and thats a very good gesture from him to contribute towards the ferry tickets, nice one. So if you need the tickets doing just PM me and ill sort them for ya dude...
