Excellent to see Griffin get the roasting he deserved. Particularly amusing was when Griffin refused to spell out his Holocaust denials, stating that it's against the law, only for Straw to say "I'm the justice secretary and I'm telling you, you can"

I know you're a fan!
But yeah, not what I call a balanced set of moderating either, Dimblebum rather went overboard on pressing NG on quotes, but didnt do the same on Straws quotes and policies

He did push Jack Straw on the immigration problems. But not much.
Dimbleby didn't put any of Nick Griffins replies to the other members.
The thing is, you can't deny that people are voting for the BNP. If everyone hates the BNP so much how come people are voting for them?
I wonder if the BBC would have allowed such a verbal bun fight if it had been Sinn Fein on the panel.

Anyone watching "This Week" now discussing the programme? The black lady on there is almost the extreme opposite of Nick Griffin and is bloody terrible, a very far left politician.
Portillo is on the money as usual and a shame he is no longer in politics.

Jack Straw - boy, has a TV appearance ever highlighted what an utter c*ck he really is. To any question he just uttered a string of seemingly random words ......
Chris Huhne - came across sort of the best politician on the show to me. Not too offensive but not someone I'd vote for.
Tory bird - as above
Bonnie Greeer - I thought she was pretty good. But if she works for the British Museum she'd better brush up on here history of Neanderthals and when they died out as has been mentioned ....
Griffin - as others have said, nerves and a planted audience and he couldn't win. Could have done his homework better as the others all had notes it seemed. 'Best BNP phrases to attack' was one headed sheet probably .... Again, not someone I'd vote for *under normal circumstances*! Come the general election who knows? (Not that they'd field a candidate this far out in the sticks!). As a *none of the above* candidate I think they're one of the few alternatives as it seems UKIP may well be bust by then!
Dimbleby - thought he did a reasonable job keeping it all flowing fairly well.
All in all - hatchet job on Griffin. Wonder if they'll do the same if they have an Islamic cleric on...????

I'm half an hour behind in wales and have just witnessed the yank say it was a democratic act to allow the Daily Mail to print an article implying that if your gay your going to die in some seedy way.
And she has the right to call Griffin on his views.

Funny old world. I just watched it from start to finish, I have to say I was thoroughly delighted that buffoon Griffin was shown up for what he actually is, which is why I didn't critise the BBC for having him on.
Then I fire my laptop up and read the update on this thread and OMFG!!!!!
Where do you lot get off on defending this fool, constantly attacking the politicians on the panel. What did you expect Jack Straw to say, 'as a Jew and a decendent of an immigrant I agree with Nick Griffin about the holocaust'. Or maybe Bonnie Greer should of had a laugh with him about the KKK? What the hell did you think was going to happen?
The reason that the audience were against him was because they are a representative audience, and last time I checked there weren't that many Holocaust denying, neo-***** queing up to go on topical news programmes.
Honestly guys he just made an utter fool of himself, and his not so secret agenda is now out there for all to see.

My take was that Griffin wasn't prepared enough for what may come to him. It was never going to be a show that supported him, but he certainly didn't do a good job standing up for his views or being very clear on them. Of course people can't really come out and say what they really believe.
While the audience/panel may have been against him, he was asked repeatedly to comment on certain things, and either avoided the questions or spouted some bs imo. He was given chances to answer, but didn't really come through.
Personally I found Jack Straw to be very similar in this respect. Couldn't give a clear and honest answer.
The Muslim woman seemed to speak more sense, could again just be political spin, but she did seem more honest.

Cant believe it, almost on the side of NG who said non violent KKK member
get a grip
we can all call MPs for how they work, how they talk the talk on TV, they are unbelievable but this bloke who was a big part of NF in the 70s I get the feeling is getting sympathy on here
Jack Straw to me is a decent and fair bloke
to say 'But when would you ever believe a word that Jack Straw said ????? '
that is just a cop out and to put down, you can say that about any MP
letting another party in to get in to have a play about and to get back handers and holidays from the EU to change policy and then take 8 years to learn from that then you get what you deserve

What did you want to happen then, NG carried shoulder high through the corridors of the BBC by hooded KKK members and guys in SS outfits.
I particularly enjoyed Jack Straws description of Griffin as a 'fantasist and conspiracy theorist'....my immediate thought was 'wow Nick get yourself over to scoobynet mate'

The majority of the audience appeared to be non-white, and most of these seemed to be sat at the front. I don't think a single question or comment was raised by anyone in the audience remotely in support of Nick Griffin, and even if there was someone there who wanted to, then weren't given a chance to speak!
The program was biased even before it was show
I watched News 24 (or whatever it is called now) at 21:00 and the whole of the first half-hour was talking about the, by then recorded, Question Time - showing all the "awkward" moments, and only interviewing people who were totally against NG.
It was supposed to be a high quality debate, but became an anti-BNP fest
BTW, i don't support Nick, but i don't like biased programming by the BBC!

to th question!! Ok if you say so, but how come Jack strw could spout out a loat of stuff like he did off the cuff if he didn't know what he was going to be asked?
also, how many in the audiance agreed with NG on somethings but didn't dare clap because they felt that most of the audiance were already there as anti NG and anti BNP?
He made a point on islam and this country... (can't remember 100% what the answer was but he mentioned keeping the country british, closing imigration and we're a mainly Christian country and any Islamic who want to be here must be aware of what Britain is, ....... it was along that line anyway), a few clapped........ be interesting to know how many on SN agreed with him!

My favourite comment was on the BBC early AM, a labourite (coloured for bias ?) was spouting that "The BNP didn't improve their vote, all the other parties votes collapsed...."
LOL
And did they wonder why ?
I defend the right for all parties to free speech, but some need help !

Like someone said above, if everyone hates NG, how come people are voting for him ?? What people say and think obviously isnt the same. It seems popular to critise the BNP and yes I dont agree with much of their views or policies, but I do agree on a few. Britian has lost being British ! Everyone is now scared of saying anything incase they offend.
Another good point was made above, will the BBC now let some fannatical Muslim Cleric on the panel now ?? Will he get a grilling like NG ?? I bet he wouldnt as who ever critised the cleric would be seen as a racist ! Many of the comments made by the audience would of been seen as rascist, if said to someone of colour.
No matter what we say about NG, his party are getting more and more votes, as people are slow getting fed up of this country being used and abused by people that come over here, slag it off, whilst being looked after by the state.
We cant raise the Union Jacket incase it upsets the coloured / Mulism community, we have to call Christmas, `the festival of lights`, again incase it offends. We cant have Christmas decorations up in the office incase it offends aswell now. This country has become a limp, over PC'ed, place where we've lost our way.
Im not saying NG is right, but Im not saying he's 100 perfect wrong either ! Some of his views are what most people think, but are too scared to say ! out of all the parties, atleast they are being honest.

This was the only thing in the programme I can remember that I agreed with him on. It is is the single biggest issue with Islam in this country and in fact it's spread across the World, it wants to impose it's beliefs on people who don't want to have those beliefs imposed on them. Sharia law being a prime example.
Unfortunately none of the other parties seem to want to come out and say this for fear of losing too many votes and so we carry on to allow the Muslim hard line to push their ideals.
I am fine with having Muslims having Mosques in this country and following their faith but what I wont tolerate is the pushing of that faith. That is when I start having anti Islam feelings and this probably applies to many non Muslims. Britain is not an Islamic state and never should it become one. The day Islam starts taking over as the main religion of the UK that is the day I move my family out of the UK.

That was more like a mindless roast by a heard of pitchfork wielding fundamentalists. People are brainwashed to such extent that they have no ability to intelligently debate on issues they have been conditioned to cower away from. All I heard were straw man arguments, ad hominem attacks and platitudes that had no basis in fact and no place in a real debate.
I love watching this kind of stuff as proof of how stupid and ignorant most humans are and how easily they are conditioned and brainwashed by the left wing media to fall in line with the herd mentality.
I know almost nothing about the BNP or this guy Nick Griffin, but what I know is that after that debate everyone on that panel ended up looking like idiots along with the moderator and the majority of the crowd. That doesn't leave much hope for humanity does it.

Big disappointment - cheap shots from the audience and panel with Dimbleby about as 'neutral' as Switzerland. Yes it made Griffin look stupid, but he left with some credibility because he was never seriously challenged.
This was just more Media hype as always. Britain will stay a tolerant, christian based country.
Forget radical Islamists or BNP fascists. Its the ones in Westminster we need to keep our eye on.

What he said was that Muslims if they stay here should understand that Britain is a Christian society and that they should respect this and he was basically getting at Islam not trying to impose it's beliefs on a country which does not want to be Muslim.

Who was thats stupid muslim cow who claimed thete are no "bogus" asylum seekers?
Is she for real?
And why is it always a muslim who chairs these ******* equality boards, thats a conflict of interest surley?
Why is never a white english person who chairs them?
That stupid cow along woth the ******* infamous shami chakrabati are trying to sowly impose muslim values on us, and i dont like it!
Whwn NG was asked a question about islam, and he told the truth, i.e that its a backwards faith that oppresses women and has no place in the westwern world, as it massivley conflicts with our values, he was applauded, but the bbc cut that off straight away, as they cant be seen to be helping NG what with being labours mouthpiece and all!
Why was the only topic race when NG actually has some ok ideas about the middle east, about england being predominantly a christian country and about the need for the boarders to close?
Complete set up in my opinion, i hate the bbc!

+1. Saved me typing it.
When are people going to realise that lots of British people DO feel as if their Britishness is being eroded, all in the name of "what makes this country great" bollocks. Amongst other things, i do NOT want mosques on the British skyline, sorry but i don't. So sue me.
