Have been in contact with this chap but have had no replies of recent so I assume it's sold.

Ok, 36k is not high but it is above average.
An Impreza should be driven but I wouldn't want to inherit someone's daily runabout.

There are so many low mileage imprezas about, 36k is high for an impreza. That said if the OP is a low mileage user would be a bargain as it would even out.
Lol, mine is a 2006 and has done 10k miles and a bit.

Average mileage is 10k a year. I'd expect an Impreza, or indeed any performance car, to be below average. Ideally you want to be buying someone's second car really.

my mate bought a highish mileage sti and it's spot on, easy motorway miles and the car is perfect.
on the flip side you've got my 'daily runabout', gets tools and golf clubs in the boot all the time but i look after it and again, the car's spot on.
why avoid either of these cars if you're in the market?

Went from a mint Evo 6 RSX which was 1 of 25 special editions made by Xtreme based on the RSII, the car was the same as your tommi mak, it was to clean to drive and any chance of rain would mean that it would stay in the garage weeks on end, I ended up selling it for 13.500 which is still strong money for a Evo 6.
Ended up with a cheaper Impreza WRX STi Version 6 which cost a lot less, but I enjoy it much more as im not as scared to drive it or break it, and who cares about stonechips!!!!
