U'd be crazy to spend all that on a car, I'd make some more ££ outta it first! Ive just started out in property development, and the amount you are talking about is roughly what i should make in profit this year, but i''ll be using it towards a bigger project, not a car lol

the house/flat can cost alot more than 56k, the clue is "use it", the concept is leverage, but if you think houses/flats are going to loose money by all means buy a car
lets go halves and buy a luxury motorhome

22b, the only car holding its value at the min. (£25k leaving 30)
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1243622.htm (no idea how good the company is though)
then something more practicle for weekdays
IAC CARS LTD : BMW M5 M5 4DR SMG BMW WARRNTY BIG SPEC, 4 Doors
BOSS PERFORMANCE UK LTD : 2006 06 Reg AUDI RS4 RS 4 Quattro 4dr HUGE SPEC
Car Solutions : AUDI RS4
and the wild card
Lexus Derby : VOLKSWAGEN Phaeton Saloon 3.0 TDI V6 4 Motion
before anyone says anything, rumour has it they will crack 1000ftlb when mapped although going that far will be enough to spit 1st gear left, 2nd gear right and 3, 4, 5, 6 towards the sun lol

Appartment or house in the sun, i spent £25k on a house in croatia 5 years ago and after spending another £30k on it it's now worth £200k and thats in the current climate. and you've still got change for a micra.

Obviously very much dependant on your own circumstances and wishes / desires (also those also affected or involved in the cash !)
Also depends if you are happy enough with your current drive.
If I came into that sum of money then if my existing car was just not what I wanted then I'd probably look to spend < £10,000 on a fast but not totally practical everyday car such as a STI RA or Evo with some tasty go-faster bits on it. The running costs etc needn't be a major worry as it would be a toy, not a commuting / family vehicle. Alternative would be something like a MK2 RS2000 with turbo Cossie engine installed, something I've always hankered after or a nice quick motorbike even if that's relevant to you - something like a Duke 1098 or Honda SP2
If your current car is fairly close to what you fancy then sub £10k would likely buy engine work/ swap along with other upgrades which would transform it in a positive manner.
A bigger spend would push me towards a 22B I think - the £30k+ costs for alternatives like a big-power Evo or GTR don't quite push my own buttons. 22B for me has the looks, power and added bonus of minimal depreciation so a year or so down the line you could sell-up with no major loss. Or a later JDM like a Spec-C - like these too and it's more modern that the classic 22B.
For the smallest spend, say taking just the £6K, of the £56,000, it would probably have to be a quick JDM Impreza - that money buys a lot of classic-Impreza these days.
Rest of the money for saving/investing etc would be my own decision.

It's your decision at the end of the day...I would never give tips as I'm hardly an expert. Although Scott Wilson Group(SWG), for e.g, could be one to keep an eye on for now.
There are plenty of stocks out there that are set for 10-20% rises over the course of a week or two. You just need to do your research and spot them. Obviously stocks with the potential for these kind of rises are higher risk than many people would typically go for, but the rewards are high too when you get it right.
