As Shaun says in full light its hard to tell.I have just been outside and looked at mine and it does look black I do have a photo but you cant tell in the picture I would have to take some more directly of the carpet.from the picture that I have put up round the pedals you can see how dark it is.

 

its hard to get a good pic as it almost looks like a black carpet but then with the light on it it looks charcoal, were in your pic i would say that is black and looks darker than mine, so maybe i have the charcoal, ha what a headache this is turning into, should just leave it as is lol
