On a mechanical watch this is the time when the date change process begins, quick changeing during this process will damage the date change mech/levers/wheel.
But if you run the hands around past midday, then through midnight, you will see your date click/snap over at bang on midnight, this is the sign of a proper movement....a bit like a Cal44.
Rememeber the rule only applies to QUICKSETTING between these hours.

Can you clarify though what you mean by its only a restriction on QUICKSETTING? Sorry to be a pain.

It is indeed. I feel like, if I pick it up to go out and its 8:01pm, dare I adjust it and risk damaging a £4k+ watch? Or do I go out without it?
Its a bad restriction really isnt it, but I guess I will only forget once or twice before I remember to put it on at 7pm. LOL.
In reality, its going to be my daly watch so wont be a problem, but for many others Im sure it is a purchase to use only for special occassions.

If you change the date by simply rotating the crown and moving the fingers/time forward date changing cant damage anything, not a good idea to move the fingers backwards either, but thats just a tip from me.
Some movements will allow you to move the hour finger forward in increments of one click per hour, but I dont think the CAL44 does this.
Have you wacked it on anything yet ? Once you get the first wack out of the way, the worry subsides.
I have noticed you run your stopwatch syncronized with the time/seconds finger, I do that all the time......its known as "W" OCD.

Quick date setting is where you unscrew the crown and pull out one click, then rotate it to change the date.......this operation should never be done during the hours we mentioned.

No I havent wacked it yet, dreading it, but once I get back and head into a few engine bays Im sure that will soon change. lol
Im surprised you noticed the second hand sync. I spent some time last night getting it absolutely perfect. lol
