Now that is bloody hideous, you would have to have had all your senses removed in order to buy one of those.

Mind you it is a classic

He is way too competitive for me - you should have seen him at the Carmarthen Modified Car Show trying to look like he was not trying

I taxed her ready for tomorrow - it cost me £405 for 12 months - but looking at the new tax bands and registration date rules coming in I will not be the only one shortly.

I'll pop up on Saturday but I'll text or phone first so I don't have a wasted trip again.

Well I have just ordered a couple of goodies for the car - a Zero Sports Gauge Pod to house the Defi gauges so that I can keep the digital clock and a Zunsport black lower grille to tidy up the lower bumper and hopefully protect the engine oil cooler.

Also does anybody know how to use the Defi controller as the instruction book is in Japanese and I really haven't had a good chance to have a mess with it yet.

Simon

Have a look at the link below before long it will not be worth buying an import car and it looks possible that they will eventually move the dates backward

The cost of vehicle tax for cars, motorcycles, light goods vehicles and trade licences : Directgov - Motoring

No problem with you being out it was only a little out of the way

Cheers Glen, I had the Prodrive grilles fitted to my Hawkeye but I spotted your Zunsport lower grille and it looks good , so I ordered one for the Ugly Bug.

Looking at the new bands the new Focus RS CO2 emissons = 225g/km so is classed as band K £215.00 and the new Subaru Sti CO2 emissions = 243g/km so classed as band M £405.00. How is the emission so low on a Focus RS?, as it has the same sized cubic capacity engine but with an extra piston and slightly more power over the Subaru sti. The answer is direct fuel injection!.

Looks as though Subaru need to adopt a new direct injection fuel system in order to lower fuel consumption and emissions. As most performace car manufactures have changed over and Porsche have been running this system since late 2006 making the new 997 turbo as fuel efficent as the new Subaru Sti (combined 24.8 mpg).

Car is booked in with Charlie at Prospeed for a 100 cell sports cat for the down pipe and if there is a cat in the up-pipe it will be having a decat there as well.

She is booked in with Bob Rawle for the 17th of October for a remap, hopefully with a low and high boost setting (plus pops and bangs on the high boost map possibly ).

She is mental enough on the 'standard' map, can't wait to see how she performs on the remapped settings.

Just a thought haven't Mitsubishi used the DI system on their cars (perhaps not the EVO's) for quite some time now?

Sorry Ty, am i being a bit thick here, but £405
It costs more to tax than insure to drive.

According to the directgov site mine is £215, Should'nt yours be as it was licensed before 2006 or is it due to being registered in this country after 2006.
If thats the case then it stinks

This countries getting worse.

My car was registered in 2008 but I am the first UK registered owner but if you follow the web link I posted, any car registered after March 2001 in the L&M bands should be £405 for a years tax.

It was £405 for my 2006 Hawkeye as well but the regs have changed since then and the new car tax regs apply to any car tax disc purchased from May 2009.

Yes they are HID's Simon but I don't think they are as good as the HID's on my old Hawkeye.

I am wrong and they are not HID's they are Xenon bulbs by the looks of them I know that they stripped loads of weight out of the car but that is taking things to an extreme.

It does not really matter at the moment as the poxy car will not even start at the moment and I am f*cking cheesed off to the extreme at the moment.

I have only taken it back from Blackwood on Tuesday, taxed it and then took it out for a 5 mile drive last night and went to start it earlier and despite the dashboard lights all coming on, the Defi's all going through their startup sequence it is as dead as a Dodo.

I think it is an immobiliser/alarm fault but as the manuals are in Japanese I cannot make head nor tail of it.

Sorry Ty - I hate to see a good Bug go down !! - when I had low batt issues I used to get all sorts of lights on and sometimes the dash looked norm, but not enough juice to crank it over. With the Immob - it's prob got an aftermarket one as JDM's didn't have one as standard fit- so I guess there will be no "key pad" in the car either (for reset). If I open my doors with the Sub keys ("Open/Close") it doesn't overide the alarm and the car won't start although I'm in it - it will only go if I use the alarms' supplied fob.

I will go out and give it a try Simon but I am not hopeful, does your key have two buttons on it - one large and one small? If so which one is supposed to lock or unlock the doors as both buttons do bugger all on my key. Also I have another fob which came with the car with the same two buttons but again they do jack sh*t.

The starter solenoid or the fuel pump do not appear to be engaging, no clicks but like I say the ignition lights all come on but nothing happens.
