Even during WW2 they did nowt for ages except fleece us. We only finished paying them off a few years ago, while other countries got Marshall Aid, we got nowt.
Nope, our so-called "special relationship" only works in THEIR direction. We are their poodle, full stop.
We are better off IN Europe than OUT.
And had we joined the Euro at £1:€1.62 when we could have done, you'd now see the cheaper holidays and travel you wanted. The argument that we couldn't go in at that rate because it would hurt our exports, cuts no ice: we are a HUGE net IMPORTING country, and it would BENEFIT our imports.
