I heard a Xerxes for the first time about 6 months after buying my LP12 in the early - mid 80s and I have to say it is different in its presentation to the LP12, but had I not already owned a LP12 it wold have been a tricky decision between the two.
Do you remember a turntable called The Source, that was pretty damn good too.

I do remember The Source, yes, but have never heard one.
Xerxes when it first came out was good, but with the upgraded power supply they gave it and the tweaks to the tonearm, it developed into a real belter, pardon the pun. I don't even know if they still make them, was the Anniversary their swansong?

The sound quality of Technics isn't really that good and even though the DJM600 is again an industry standard it is one ****e sounding mixer. Far better sounding and performing kit out their like COB Denon CD decks. You'll actually find that quite alot of real turntablists (not djs) don't use Technics decks but prefer Vestax.
PS. last time i seen Paul Van Dyk playing, he only used a laptop! what an overrated knobjockey.

Are you sure he just had a laptop? If could have been some sort of mp3 controller like scratch live or similar where you plug a box into the mixer which takes the vinyl signal into the laptop, and using special signal vinyls the computer knows exactly where it is on the record. You would then use the laptop as your source of music and the decks for control. So he may have been using that.
But either way PVD is a **** jockey. He played at Creamfields 2009 and he had the worst ever finish. Diddn't even play for an angel??

I used to have a Rock - now I have an Origin. It is very, very good. Can't remember the model name - it is a custom built version. Very competitive against top high-end turntables if they are well put together.

Can't remember much other than his standing there in the glow of his laptop, he didn't seem to be using anything else. Not playing For An Angel???? Thats like seeing Roy Chubby Brown and him not making fanny jokes, POINTLESS!
