I had "travellers" round to my house once regardling the driveway.
Told me we done your neighbours etc etc, showed me a letter of recommendation also.
He seems to get very upset when I said that the neighbours drive was a mess as the tarmac was only about 5mm thick and was already beginning to wear away in parts.
I suggested that the letter wasn't worth the paper it was written on and that we should both go visit the place that wrote it
He then proceeded to begin slabbering etc.
I just told him to get lost as I'm a cop and will have him lifted in the next 10 mins.
Thankfully the ***** bag left and didn't return

I am the first to admit that spelling is not my strong point but google " pikies " and then google " pickey "

100% true story.
Traveller type comes to my garage in his Transit and buys a brand new Touran. Lovely fella, just wants a deal. We do the deal, he shakes on it and pays me a deposit in cash, and drops me a bonafide bankers draft for the balance 3 weeks later. We bank the draft, it's legit, and we release the car. He says to me that he'll refer some of his mates and I do a few more deals over the next 6 months or so.
I find it strange that these guys have no p/x's and always have addresses miles away, but next time I see him is 9 months later when the starter motor has packed up in his 10,000 mile car. He then proceeds to threaten the service manager, asking for his money back because the car is sub standard. He goes as far as saying that he will have the showroom burned down and follow the service manager home and burn his house down too for good measure.
We refunded him in full. Over the next 6 months, two more cars were returned with issues and refunds were meted out.
No wonder they had no p/x's, and the techies who had to prep the cars to be re-sold reckoned that the Touran had done closer to 40k and probably been clocked. We sent that Touran to the auction and lost £6000.
I'm sure, 100%, that all travellers are not the same. There's always good and bad, and it can be stereotypical to label them all the same but my expereince was bad, and it will make me wary forever.
