I give cyclists a wide birth, I cycle, and I ride my scooter and motorbike, so I know how it feels to be on two wheels.......vulnerable is the best word.
But....
I cant abide them cyclists in groups with all the lycra gear on and caps back to front rideing in a pack of 9..........3 a breast, no need whatsoever.
They pi55 me off big time, if I am in one of my Diesels I black smoke the ba5tards, if Im on my bike I deafen them, if Im in the Datsun I vacume them....if Im on my scooter I try to keep up.

Highway code 163.
give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car
If you were overtaking a car you would be in the opposite carriage way, as you would with a horse. Cycling 3 a breast makes the driver use the other lane and wait for a big enough gap
Just missing my ear with your mirror is not what this rule is about

I do !!!!!
It may be gimpy and a bit sad looking but I have one of these,
I like to know whats coming up behind me.
And this,
So I can see and be seen.
Dont think that all cyclists are clueless Muppets, most are acutely aware of their situation, you have to assume everything hides a hazard, that every driver hasnt seen you, but I agree that some rely on drivers to see them, which is a very dangerous game to play as a lot seem to be too busy taking a call, smoking, eating, fannying with various gadgets, chatting etc, if the cyclist looses concentration the cyclist dies, if the driver looses concentration, the cyclist dies.

It sounds like you ride your bike as I do my motorbike, just assume everyone is out to get you and give them a wide berth. Seems to work for me and haven't had a spill yet.
Also agree with the distracted car drivers, I'm shocked at the amount of people that are still talking on mobiles and driving, looks like the fact you get points as well as a fine hasn't made a jot of difference. And if I dare to say it the worst offenders seem to be young women.
