Martin as you're so pro climate change, and man's contribution to it, I assume you don't fly, drive, only eat locally grown produce and live in as green a way as possible?

That's really not true - I'm not pro climate change at all, in fact outside the world of SN I'm often arguing that this isn't certain thing to people who are equally evangellical about GW being a real and present danger as some on here are certain that it's not real. I just argue that people shouldn't close their minds to the argument. Now what could possibly be wrong with that?

As someone who works in thr aviation industry and closely with Govt, I know that APD has no impact on air travel, doesn't help the climate one iota, yet does put extra £'s in the treasury coffers.
I do own a car that does 60mpg though.

There was "climate change" in what is now Iraq, some 2000 years BC. How long ago is that Martin? So too with the Moche, in what is now Chillie. No SUV's then Martin. Why did CC happen? Was it AGW/ACC?.

Back from the dead. Apparently Ofcom are to investigate the dodgy gov. ad re. climate change as well as the ASA. In case it's politically motivated. As if, I ask you ....
Harmless Sky - Climate, the countryside and landscapes Ofcom to investigate government’s ?dodgy’ climate adverts
"... Last week it became clear that the Advertising Standards Authority had launched an inquiry into the Government’s £6m TV advertising campaign aimed at climate change sceptics. Now it appears that the UK broadcasting regulator, Ofcom, will also investigate complaints that the advert is politically motivated and therefore breeches the ban on broadcasting political adverts ..."
Go through some of the comments as well. A pointer to Millipede's site at The advert they are trying to ban comes up. Would seem to point to some political angle me thinks ....

Seems like the ASA don't think there is anything to complain about. Seems they reckon the IPCC report is the dog's danglies so we should all shut up!
See here ... Ad industry OKs climate **** ? The Register
"... The ASA dismissed complaints against the TV ad, although it upheld complaints against two of the related poster advertisements, and has requested they not be run again. On the charge that the campaign was political, ASA deferred to OFCOM, which is continuing to investigate the advertisements, and has not yet made a decision ..."
Not that they're any vested interests ... "... Critics aren't happy, and point out that the chair of the ASA, Lord Chris Smith of Finsbury, also chairs the Environment Agency, and is currently working closely with DECC ..."
Hung parliament coming up? I know which definition of 'hung' I'd like to use ....

This thread being brought back just reminded me of this - YouTube - Climate Change: Change is the Correct Word
Just a guy's opinion, but some of his stuff is funny.

I think people are fed up of being ripped off in all possible ways by this egregious bunch in control. Everybody is ready to be cynical at the drop of a hat which is hardly surprising when you think about it.
When evidence appears to show that there was collusion and deliberate cooking of the figures, people will jump on it straightaway and who can blame them?
I think it is a big con too!
