This goes to prove that travellers are SCUM

Not forgetting fat people are lazy salad dodging sweaty peados.
Although in answer to the OP, I avoid gypsies at all costs and no matter how much anyone tries to defend them, its a sad fact that most peoples experiences of them are not pleasant.
Having said that, there was or is a gypsie girl as an LSA at my daughters school. Never heard a bad word so one can only assume they are not all bad.

No more than civil liberties of all peoples.
Doesn't give some/none/any the right to behave and treat the rest of us and our property in the manner in which they do.

It was noted in another thread that there is a world of difference from a true Romany who engenders respect, or should do, and the "travellers" referred to in this thread. Whatever you and Yoza might say, it cannot be denied that in just about every case, the travellers will behave in the manner described above and can only be referred to as a blot on the landscape wherever they pitch camp.

I'd be bloody horrified if a field of caravans sprung up overnight near me, fortunately the geography makes that practically impossible. I fully sympathise with those who are blighted by these self-glorified outlaws.

I certainly asked that question of yoza in his "Where is the line" thread (or a name like that) and the reply was along the lines of "Reporting posts isn't my style. And as for the rest of your reply, lol", so no, there wasn't a true answer to the question.
As I said there, I do wonder if perhaps he is closer to the gypsy (and note I mention gypsy and not pikey/traveller) than he wants to publicly mention, and I could understand why. If I had, for example, an aunt who had married into a gypsy family I'd probably not mention this on an internet forum as people would associate gypsy with pikey/traveller and thus assume I'm a thieving scumbag.

I see it as being a bit like hating all black people because "one time at bandcamp" a black guy broke your jaw, so therefore all black guys are jawbreakers.
Or hating all red cars, because the red one you had never started, therefore all red cars wont start....

It is true that the ***** shamefully murdered many gipsies at the time Martin. All to do with the attempted conversion of Europe and eventually the world to an Aryan population! One of the reasons that we fought them of course! We are in imminent danger of losing that battle now of course!

I'm fully aware of the differences Les, I was simply drawing a comparison between the views of some posters i.e filling up old oil tankers with 'scum' (I paraphrase) and what has happened before in our history.
My objection (as always) is the need for people to refer to one another as 'scum' and apply blanket generalisations.
The fact that the travelling comunity can be a problem is not in doubt and I have not suggested otherwise.

I went for a Subway at my local village. Parked up round the back in the public car park and got out with my girlfriend and started walking back round the front to subway. 3 kids all between 7-10 years old, one girl, two boys, were riding round on bikes. No parents in sight. I knew there was a pikey camp that had just invaded the public hall playing fields just down the road so I was automatically suspicious. The girl cycled past us saying "hello Mr." I just muttered under my breath "f*ck off" not loud enough for her to hear, but loud enough for my girlfriend to hear. Anyway she wasnt amused and stormed off ahead, I caught her up explaining they were upto no good, she wasnt listening, she turned around to point at them to show me how they were just little kids, only to turn and point to them all having a go at ripping a corsa's side skirt right off the car!
haha I made her sit in the car whist I got the Subway
Pikeys!

Real Gypsie/traveller folk are dead on, I have had many good dealings with them in my past jobs. Infact I had one traveller who used to come into my shop every year at around the same time when he was in the area, fantastic bloke, was happy to take advice and always bought the best of what he could afford.

It is quite reasonable however to complain about the behaviour of so many "travellers" especially when the community does it's best to actually help them out with dedicated sites etc.

Right, heres my tenpenneth!!. Travellers are not a race, they are scum.
Romanies/gypsies, are a race, and are in general ok. Have had plenty of contact with real gypsies, and providing you don't fall for the usual slight of hand/carnival type tricks they perform, are great to get along with. Look but don't touch the women!!, think Cher's song!!!.
Still take all my scissors/shears/knives etc to them when in the area, as I don't care what anyone says, they can still get the best edge.
Oh, by the way, they hate the travellers with a passion.
