Is the only difference the cost and the fact the scoobyparts one is colour coded to the dash default which I'm sure would take a £5 tin of plastikote to replicate?

Thats exactly what I contacted them about. Their advert does state that it does not come painted.

Russell - You have seen pleanty of them. (I'm sure there is a joke in there)Whats the finish like as they come out the box???
What do you normally paint them with? Plastikote matt black?

Here is my reply from JW:-
[quote]
Hi there,

The item usually comes in a black finish ,it can be painted to match interior or exterior colours
I don’t have a better picture than the one on the website at present [quote]

Well - I have supplied 7-8 of these from JW Racing (via Amber Performance) and these are the ones fitted to Clark's WR1 (Polished Bliss) and Boyakasha's car as well as a few people cars on SIDC.

Look at Clarks pictures of his car on here (Car Care section) and you should be able to see the pod.

They were fitted unpainted as the match was pretty good. If you wanted it painted, I use a FLAT BLACK ENAMEL paint which matches the black surround on the Instrument Cluster.

I'm off to see Clark today so if you need a closer picture of the pod - I'll get some.

Bad news I'm afraid guys - I got a reply from Jason and the price is not valid.
See below for his E-Mail:-
We have a problem here , it seems our prices are way out on this product , so im going to have to disappoint on this occasion

I don’t know why but it looks like this product was not updated when all the exchange rate issues hit the markets so as well as ATI increasing their prices and the economy this item has jumped in price considerably

Ill be adjusting the price in a few mins to reflect the correct price

We will be able to offer a deal against the new price but that is going to take it above the current price by quite a way so not sure if that will still work for you

I asked for the new price etc and if he could do a GB and here is the reply:-
OK , the correct price is £120.00 plus VAT (was £75.00 plus VAT before April , not quite sure where my £86.00 plus VAT came from!!)

I can do 10% and FREE delivery for sales of 5 or more , but that’s only to one address (then you ship or hand out from there)
Alternatively we can ship direct to each household for £5.95 inc VAT (UK mainland only)

So basically the new price from JW Racing is £124.20 to one address or £130.15 to your door.

Worth a shot, thanks for trying. Looks like scoobyparts then, as I'll be getting the oil temp/pressure fitting kit from them anyway

As Wuz said above they come "primered" but they blend straight in to the oe dash. If required they "can" be painted flat / matt black but Wuz says he has never had to paint one yet (supplied by Jason)
I believe its exactly the same ATI pod as the Scoobyparts one so should come with the rings etc but I will check with Jason and get back to you.

Well I just hope this means that all the prices are going to go BACK DOWN when the exchange rate improves.

Just looked back and have to admit I bought those Pods from Jason in late 2008 - didn't realise it was that long ago.....

I assume if they are primered then that will be a matt finish, I believe the scooby parts ones are gloss so these may well be the best option.

I've got the green gauges on order so I won't be getting them for weeks so I've got plenty of time to sort out the pod.

Here are some pics of the Zerosport Pod, I took the pics in the dark so had to use the flash so it might appear lighter than the actual colour.

Thanks cannon fodder. Its a nice pod alright, think i may be swaying towards the lower ones like the ATI and a possible clock move. Pics will really help others to decide.

I know it will be a matter of taste but I dont like the way the zero sport pod sits. A bit too high and the clock bit doesnt look quite right.
I'm not even going to try and re locate the clock, just going to live without it. That way I have an excuse for being late

Cheers Wuz. If its good enough for Clark its probably too good for me
He's the fussiest guy I know - suppose thats why he works at polished bliss

Guys I am awaiting confirmation that the JW rasing item is the exact same kit. Looks like these are all supplied exactly the same direct from ATI regardless who we buy through.
They seem to be very well matched to the subaru dash straight out the box.

If you read the scoobyparts advert it says it "can" be painted to colour code, but comes dark grey.

So in summary (confusing my self now):-
I have contacted both and will confirm if the JW includes the backing and rings and also if scoobyparts paint the pod or just supply as it comes from ATI

The zero sports one looks out of place where as the ati lookes like it was ment to be there. I've got a watch so I'm not fussed about having a clock in the car.

Just put me down for whichever ATI one that doesn't need me to paint it but matches the dash

Here is the ATI pod supplied from Scoobyparts which I had fitted to my Hawkeye before I traded it in against an S202.

The colour is a fairly good match for the standard dash colour, I did like the ATI pod but the Zerosport pod is a much better quality item and even though it had been criticised for looking out of place once I take it back off and paint it back to the dash colour it will look a lot better matched.

Still prefer the ATI pod myself.

Latest news:-
Right these ATI pods from JW are exactly the same as the Scoobyparts ones. They are supplied by the same people so lets get the names together and we can sort out payment details. I've had my gauges for over a year and everything has been fitted for at least 3 months but still no gauges as I've been to lazy to sort out a pod!! LOL

So........
ATI pod with all accessories and have confirmed that it has a good finish out the box and at a price of £123.50 delivered to your door from JW Racing.

Based on that who's in?

I am defiantley up for the pod but I've had a thought. I also want to get the oil fitting kit from scooby parts and these are £26. Scooby parts have offered to get the pod to us for £125 so I doubt they will charge extra postage if we order an extra part with it, so if we get the fitting kit and the pod from them it'll be £151 delivered where as if the pod comes from JW delivery will be extra from scooby parts making it £154.66.

Just out of interest the full price including delivery from scooby parts for the pod and fitting kit is £159.17 so there's not much of a difference between it but I thought I'd put it out there.

When shall we have a cut off for this? To be honest it's looking like it won't happen anyway but just incase a couple of people do come forward I suggest leaving it open till next monday.
