So do SPECS get re-calibrated (or whatever it is) when a road has a limit lowered.
I only ask as the A46 (Nottingham) is a NSL but with the road works all the NSL signs are blanked out (well, with grey spray paint) and new temp. 40 limit signs are dotted around.

The only way to do that is to have reflective film on your number plate, Your plate wont show up on any cameras then, BUt if you get caught you will get a proper telling off.
Police cars that are camera equipped will pick up you have the film on as to will petrol stations etc.

These are the claimed figures
Speed Check Services

If this is the guide line they work from specs are here for the long haul.

Quote:Environmental benefits

Environmentally, driving at a steady average speed with less accelerating and braking will produce lower emissions and burn less fuel. Using average speed monitoring over long distances, this dramatically improves fuel economy and reduces CO2 emissions. In urban environments, speed humps and chicanes could be removed from routes that need to be accessed by the emergency services, allowing streets to be more accessible and safer.:Quote

Biggest load of BS yet (by SCS Ltd), the graph conradicts the statement, showing only 9min of constant speed out of the measured 25mins

a)I can't use my cruise control in specs due to people not having a sense of spacial awareness or not knowing how the cameras work (ie braking when they see one approaching)

b) Iam on/off throttle and brakes.

c) I end up undertaking in lane 1 (as i am unable to use lane 3 even if it is available) because Mr/Mrs dipsh1t refuse to use lane 1

Now thats safe and enviromentally freindly, not!

I've yet to drive through any of them at a steady speed, during normal working hours that is. (2200 until 0530 they are a breeze)

My biggest gripe though is people use their mobiles/ipods or start to do other activities that effect their driving because they are going slower and obviously feel safer causing all traffic in their wake to change lane/speed.

Mayhem SPECS

And breathe.

I thought about this when SPECS first appeared, but it doesnt seem worthwhile due to the systems relatively slow take-up. An array along the top of the registration would be best, but youll also need a camera and a screen to complete the 'parking camera'. Im not much of a solderer, although 12v security camera LED arrays are available; theyre expensive though and I dont know whether theyre any good.

42 posts and not a single one saying they have been caught by a Specs camera - one must draw one's own conclusion.

Im aware that people have been caught on one of the countrys first SPECs sites, the Stocksbridge Bypass, North of Sheffield. Dont draw the conclusion that they dont work, because this one certainly does.

I can confirm they are live, I have information (cant go into it to much) about all the specs on the M3 in Surrey being live.
I am not sure about other motorways but they can generate so much money that I cant see how any LA would leave them as dummies.

Thing to do is clone your neighbours plates, hammer it through some, go around to there house in a couple of weeks and ask if they have ahd any speeding tickets lately ***

*** Obviously a joke.

I was thinking the very same this afternoon, at about 36 posts.

I've only heard of people being copped at Stocksbridge by sneeky beak with a laser gun, but you are some what closer than i.

We're just all superb drivers who pay attention to $cameras

(or maybe didn't bother sending off the new keeper details of the V5 to the DVLA after buying a car, don't bother taxing, nor insuring etc. Yes, Specs work great when trying to catch real law breakers ).
