What's wrong with not liking the look of them? It's called an opinion.

If they had 400bhp, fair enough but it looked like a bonkers radio controlled car scaled up too much. It actually made an Evo VI look subtle.

Oh and you forgot AUTOMATIC diesel estate. That looks just like a 145bhp 318d (except lower and with two exhausts) And that's still quicker to 60 and 100 and 1/4 miles than a LOOK AT ME RS...

Tee hee.

I'd definitely have a Scirrocco R if in the market for such a vehicle.

and my opinion is its a great car with looks that are not boring and dull id much rather have a car that stands out than a car that just blends in with every other car on the road..just my opinion

IF IT WAS 400 BHP WOULD IT LOOK BETTer ?..caps...

btw my last car was a BMW diesel great car but still boring, my next car will be bm aswell

I myself have an E60 530D and the parents other car is an X5 35D.

To compare these cars with the RS isn't possible. I love the easyness the diesels munch up the miles and how little fuel they use, but i'll compare the RS more with every scoob i've owned and been in.

Dads RS isn't fully ran in yet, but i'll say that the figures don't do the car justice. Whether it's the lack of 4WD or not, the way it goes, corners and stops is quite scary really. Factor in the "fun" aspect of driving and i'd say the closest i've got to this much fun, was with my old 320hp WRX RA. Even the 440hp 2.5 classic didn't get me going in the same way as the RS. It was quick....Christ yer! But it was more adreniline rush than fun.

The RS is SUCH an easy car to drive and yet hooligan when you need it to be. It looks OTT yes, but there needs to be a car available to be different, otherwise it gets all very samey, samey.

Would i buy one if it were my own money? Now i've driven it....yes i would, yet before i'd driven it, i wouldn't have. I'd have fitted a cat-back exhaust by now though.

Yes to compare a much slower E60 530d and X5 35D IS impossible - the 5er has less power and torque, the X5 is very heavy.

But the 335d and RS and almost neck and neck for performance in every acceleration measure (RS officially quicker to 60, but 335d has got 5.6s in one proper test, 335d is a bit quicker to 100), track times are very close (RS quicker at Brunters, 335d quicker at the West circuit used by Evo), etc, etc - so it's hardly the world's most daft comparison.

But yes, comparing the very different 5er 530d and the much much heavier X5 35d IS impossible.

The RS and 335d are very different but their similar performance is quite amazing - in that they reach them is such different ways.

DRB5 your spot on mate the cars are worlds apart

Matteeboy SORRY MATE YOU ARE WRONG the RS raw/ish hot hatch built for fun and as a drivers car with hooligan looks

The bmw 335 auto estate car is a "fast" diesel, comfy, run of the mill (looks) the only thing they have in commen is pace

i love the way you can quote all the times against all other cars round tracks

not many people would say "i dont know what to buy a focus RS or a BMW auto diesel estate" difrent markets totaly difrent cars IMO

Please find me a taxi spec car with nearly 300bhp YOU COMPLETE BUFFOON.

Oh - it looks like you might own an old Fiat Coupe - more torque steer than a=n RS and the build quality of a 90s Barrett Home. No wonder you feel the need to call a fast BMW a taxi spec motor. Funny how those with proper cars never feel the need to have little snipes.

Hang on - I think you might have an MG ZS and I believe several people said it was a taxi. You also claim to slay WRXs in it and have "had" an STI - words cannot begin to convey the irony of calling a 335d a taxi spec motor...

Paul - I like the RS (apart from the looks) - I like the power, I like the chassis, I like the performance. I wouldn't have one but there you go. But it's funny that an RS needs to be so shouty when a soot chucking auto estate gets there just as quickly.

There, that's better.

[QUOTE]

But your here having a snipe at the RS now thats ironic

Yes it is shouty but thats whats great about it, just as the escort cosworth was back in its day some people would have said its horid with its big wheel arches and big daft whale tail spoilers but people who love cars (petrolheads) will love it for what it is...... something difrent, evan if they never want to own one, its cars that are difrent most petrolheads want to own a mad fiat, a strange alfa, a stupid ford and thats what my car is....and thats why i love it...you probably will never understand just as i will never understand people who surf of the british coast

No idea about the fiat coupe, i nearly bought one to restore, i can only assume you did some websearch shiznaz and went back to stalk some of my older posts, your small man syndrome is starting to show again, why dont you put on your pyjamas like a good little boy and mention how hard you are

ZS180 yeah i have one of these at the moment, i swapped it for the remains of my battered, blown up scooby
The way i look at it, i basically got it for free as i had written off the scooby money about 5 years back
I was only supposed to get it to flog on while i bought an audi, but it actually turned out to be a pretty good car to drive, so i kept a hold of it as a run around, probably a wee a testament to how much it impressed me when i was expecting it to be utter ****e, evo mag seamed to like them as well

BTW the whole "had an sti" malarkey was entirely invented to hook the spackers into some kind of "skit"
Not many actually fell for it, i expected more at least it hooked the best of the spazmatrons

Honestly the amount of money i spent on that battered old scooby, i could have bought one of them taxi things with utter ease, but at the time i wanted something remotely sporty

PS. your car is still ****, has a gay chip fat burning engine and looks like a hearse, you look like a gonk on your pyjamas, and have arms like an aids victim

I better stop before you throw your dummy at my worthless car and leave a smudge of saliva on the window

for future spackers who search my posts and miss the comedy........

"I have just had an RS on the way home in my rover
The RS`s are ****e, Tiff Needel (sp?) said the ZS 180 was the best handling FWD he had ever driven so the RS must handle like ****e"

Had one of the older RS`s in the other day for a clean, i did not realise the wheel arches were wider then the stock focus tbh!

one question

why is there so many RS focus' for sale on pistonheads?(and it cant be for a quick buck, some are pretty cheap considering the spec)

With so many folk having ordered the car so long ago, now the money crisis has hit, people decided to go ahead with the build in the hope of being able to sell for a profit. When this doesn't happen, they figured they would at least get use of it for a couple of months and lose a couple grand max.

One major thing for me(saddo), is that fact that it is a pure sports car and comparable(yes really!) to Evo's and Scoobs yet doesn't cost over £400 a year to tax the thing!

Checklist for everyone, without exception, that has a go at my car.

1) Must have a pretend fast car - must be an old wreck that was once considered okay 15 years ago by one journo
2) Must be VERY into computers. In fact be a computer geek.
3) Must be overweight so needs to call anyone "fit" "skinny" to make themselves feel better.
4) Must be incapable of writing a single sentence without at least ten errors.

So basically a skint, retarded, fat computer geek.

Hmm - I just cannot see why you might want to have a pop...

This thread is titled "Focus RS" NOT "Matteeboy's 335d"!

So for gods sake stop turning every thread into a me me me me fest. Everyone knows you have a 335d and how fast they are but nobody really gives a ****.

You are ruining nearly every bloody thread in here. Get a jog on.... i'm sure you mentioned you were good at that

As I said in another thread, i think ford have got it spot on with this new RS. As far as which is better, (no harry hill gags!) an RS and a 335d are two completely different cars for different purposes. The RS is loud, lairy, sounds awesome and would make you laugh every time you drive it, but you wouldnt wanna turn up to a funeral with it!. You dont get much better than the beemer in its class, and it goes well. I know I could have bought something much better built, not massively slower (pre remap!) and that wouldnt depreciate like a stone when I paid £27k for my STI 3 years ago, but for me, nothing else at that time put a smile on my face like the scooby did. However, I have to say if I were looking again now, an RS would be very tempting. Oh and for the record, its white for me.

I want neither a 335d or a Focus RS, I tell ya why !!!

335d, epic performance, superb drivetrain, economical for the performance, excellent handling, well made, tunable, discreet but Matteeboy has turned me against them forever, for that reason, Im out !

Focus RS, looks purposeful, sounds wonderful, stunning performance, great handling not just for fwd but just great handling full stop, well priced but I went past Kerry Katona's house the other day and there was one on the path in white, for that reason, im out !

Couldn't have put it better myself. I don't often post, but Jesus, Matteboy constantly comes across as such a massive ****.

Is there a way of hiding people's posts, so I don't have to listen to his internet boasting drivel please?

There is an ignore list, but the point is, he is ruining every bloody thread going on about his car. So if you put him on the ignore list you will have other peoples replies to his ramblings showing up and no post will make sense.

I hope he takes these points on board and if he wants to talk about his car then he should start a thread about it not hi-jack every other thread in "Other Marques"

Jesus, Mattee....

You really know how to ruin every thread that ever comes up in Other Marques.

If I brought up that I had bought a McClaren Push Chair for my daughter you would probably mention that you would rather turn your 335d into a push chair and use that......

Everyone knows you have a 335d barge.... just give it a rest and stop sitting there with your chest puffed out and giving it "large" about your car that no one gives a **** about.

PSL used to troll and snipe and talk nonsense just like you do, but the difference is that he knew he was being a **** and you seem to think people actually want to hear your rubbish.

Consider yourself told off!

Awww...c'mon guys.
In a world of doom and gloom it's sometimes nice to come home, switch the computer on and have a smile at 'someone on the internet' ramblings.

It's just funny. Let it go. It's the internet. It isn't real.

Has anyone else seen this month's Evo? Why oh why is the new Cupra R getting such good times compared to the RS? It's well down on power and torque.

Anyway, there's plenty on the RS in the issue and most of it is very positive.

I have just had a Zafira (with almost no engine) hire car for a week in SW Ireland - land of the dismally surfaced road. I specified an estate car and was told I'd get a V70 or Jag estate (and paid for it) so was a bit miffed.

Massive, practical, but very Vauxhally. Having said that any firmly sprung car would be a PITA over there - bumps and holes everywhere.

As for being a thread spoiler, there is an option in life called "not reading a post" - same as when you find a newspaper stand - you don't HAVE to read every paper on it.

Sticky Micky was having some utterly dimented rant - it needed replying to and the lack of a reply from him shows I hit the nail on the head. Overweight, IT geek with an old wreck that remembers ages old threads of mine and hates it when I search his history and give it back again.
