Default Off topic - Hammond up for Children's BAFTA

Hammond up for children's Bafta:

The first two series of Blast Lab were shown this year
Presenter Richard Hammond is among the nominees for this year's British Academy Children's Awards for his show Blast Lab.

The Top Gear star is up against Steve Backshall for Deadly 60, CBeebies host Andy Day and Mister Maker's Phil Gallagher in the presenter category.

Disney's High School Musical Three is nominated for best film.

The awards will be presented by comedy pair Dick and Dom on 29 November at London's Park Lane Hilton.

Online drama

The duo are also nominated in the entertainment category for The Legend of Dick and Dom alongside fellow CBBC shows Election and Sorry I've Got No Head, as well as Nickelodeon's Bratz Design Academy.

CBBC, CBeebies, Nickelodeon's Nick Jr and Welsh language channel Cyw are all up for channel of the year.

In the drama category, CBBC has two nominations with Dustbin Baby - the story of a 14-year-old girl who was abandoned at birth - and Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.

They will compete against S4C's Rhestr Nadolig Wil - or Wil's Christmas List - and online drama US5, which can be found at the Mencap Plannet website.

In the film category, the High School Musical film goes up against Bolt, Coraline and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

Channel 4's Lost and Found competes with Horrid Henry, Chop Socky Chooks and Art Sparks for best animation.

Other categories include factual programme, independent production company, learning primary, learning secondary and pre-school animation.

The reason Fifth Gear failed was because both it's format and it's presenters were well under par. Drafting any of them into Top Gear would be its death nell in my opinion.
Can't wait until the new series of TG starts. It's just a shame the series has such a short run these days.
