I am thinking that someone was trying to give us a slap on the wrist for daring to edge away from the subject matter.

I think we are well aware of the seriousness of this thread, but I didn't know that SN had 'thread police' who felt the need to tell us all how we are allowed to behave.

Well done SN!
Four pages of ranting based on complete ignorance.
A record of some sort perhaps
Doubt it somehow.

Maybe it says something that we weren't surprised, I did have a think about it and could only rationalize it if the person that kicked it was high, otherwise to me it felt like a cover up for the girl accidentally treading on it, say what you want about the British hoodie/chav but generally, like the rest of us they love the dogs, stab you in the neck for a few quid but generally pets are safe, wonder why the girl made it up if the pup just died ?

Not at all. Some kids do that sort of thing.

In my village they caught most of the ducks on the pond and pulled their heads off.

Do you recall that farm break-in where a lot of exotic birds were just mutilated?

And taking an RSPCA report at face value seems fair enough to me.

4 pages of justified expression of disgust based on a published news report from what should be a reputable source, backed up with RSPCA involvement.

I think the most appropriate retort to your post is therefore simply "f*ck off"

The Daily Mail a reputable source
Tell me DD, does Fido help you out with the big words?

I think that is a very reasonable reply personally!

its a growing problem with youths and dogs. these youth will grow up one day and will promote dog fighting. these animals have a life and feel pain its sick when you think about it. the law should be much harder on people like that to stop the route of the problem its sad when you read stuff like that.

No, but even "Fido" wouldn't confuse "From the BBC news" with "The daily Mail".

Based on current evidence, I suspect "Fido" has the measure of you in the intelligence stakes, so perhaps "Fido" could give you a few pointers?

Perhaps he could.
Or maybe this tells us that the BBC is as cr4p a news service as the Daily Mail, which I believe first ran the story. Shouldn't expect too much from the state apparatus I suppose.
Could be wrong as I pay no particular attention to either. Just happened to see the front page on the news stand. At least the broadsheets had the good sense to give this story the swerve.
What is of more interest to me, is just how much people almost seemed to want this story to be true.
Some people on here like to think they love animals. The evidence however, would indicate they are just misanthropic.*

Fido says that would be dependent upon how pedantic you wish to be with regard to your defenition of "animal" (in the generally accepted sense)

Well it occurs to me that Fido may well have a bias against species of the non-dog persuasion.
Having said that, he seems to be a dog of some intelligence and I am reading the meaning of his somewhat cryptic post as being to indicate that this "bone" should be buried, with a view to having a good chew on, at a later date.
