105 MPH on M2 @ 4:00 in the morning

Amusing to see people still pedaling the myth that anything over 100 is a ban
Definitely worth playing up the nervousness angle, if it's a long wait before the court date, and the fact that because of the road being so empty at that time of night you didn't have such a good impression of the speed you were travelling.
You're very unlikely to do worse with a good traffic-offence specialist sollicitor than with none at all, so I would try to find out as much as you can about penalties handed out over the past few months for similar offences at the actual Courts where your case will be heard, and then weigh up if it'll be worth shelling out for one or not. The CAB or the Courts themselves should be able to tell you where case listings and outcomes are advertised.

Thanks for all the input guys, but my business partner (another proud newage owner) was right in front of me , got done doing 100mph himself , so i don't think I can play the 'no reference points on the road to get the impression of the speed' card , but I will plead guilty and believe me I AM nervous. I will speak to a specialist solicitor but don't want to take one with me to the court. I live in London but I have to go to Chatham Magistrates apparently and it says in the letter that I MUST attend. In legal terms I think it means possible ban

I was stopped doing 103.9 mph, i went to court pleaded guilty with no excuse. It was early in the morning too next to no traffic and the officer put this in the report, alot has to do with what the officer has put as the CPS will use this to prosecute. I took no solicitor as what could he say that i couldn't, i had no excuse and said sorry blah blah blah and said i needed my license for work and couldn't catch a bus as i needed to carry petrol around with me and you can't take that on the bus along with most of my tools. The clerk then tells the court that if i get any points it will be a 6 month ban which is automatic when reaching 12 (i had 6). I think i did have nice magistrates that day but in the end they pretty much said the best they could do was 14 day ban and £335 fine. If i had less than 6 points I'm pretty sure they would have given me 6 points and the same fine.
It all depends on your circumstances and the officer report, also how good a mood the magistrates are in. Regarding the solicitor it all depends if you feel confident/lucky. I genuinly needed my license although i took no letter and they did ask for one.

i understood that anything over 96mph and your in trouble, i was also under the impression that anything over 99mph was an instant ban. as for the length of the ban or points and size of fine imposed i cant help. However you were on a motorway in a car that could come to a stop from 100mph alot quicker than an old car could do from 70mph when the speed limit was set.

One of my mates was caught doing an avergae of 106 over 6.5 miles on the M6
When they stopped him and asked him why he was doing 106 he said "There was a bloody jag in front of me and it wouldn't move" One of the officers actually started laughing at this although the other one didn't. He got 7 days and £60 although I think his solicitor cost about £200.
To add I have no points

Just be prepared for, at the very least, a fine and points.

Instead of going to Chatham isn't it possible to have the case heard at your local magistrates. Thought I'd read it somewhere.

A mate got caught @ 112 on the M25 in his M3. He asked for ban and fine rather than points and that's what he got. £1000 fine and six week ban. Personally I would prefer the ban and fine rather than six points that mean you've got to tread on egg shells for three years until they're taken off again.

Look through all the posts where guys that have either got off or had a few weeks ban for doing over the ton and you wont go far wrong. My story, 128 on the m1 in the day, 42 day ban and 300 pounds fine, i did take a legal eagle with me but no one listened to him woffling on about me having a bad time of late and how sorry i was lol.

depends, Due to time and road condtions I was caught on a dry day no one around me at 102mph and got 3 points and £60 fine, Traffic officer said im using my descretion if you was overtaking undertaking etc you would of been going to court

I got caught on a camera doing 36mph in a 30 limit in my STI - I thought I deserved a medal. No points though as I took up the kind offer of a place on a speed awareness course (which was a rather surreal experience).

Well , pending court appearance , 3 to 6 points, few days to few weeks ban, couple of hundred pounds of fine, I either have to get a smaller spoiler, or install a very high sitting & zooming camera to watch out for the T5's.
I do not think that I am driving faster than I have done since I have bought my STI 6 months ago , if anything I am more aware of the speed I am traveling at as with the afterburner it gets really loud Its just that I cannot see far behind me because of the spoiler The officer who stopped me said he had to go 160 mph for good 5 minutes to catch up with me (I said you must have waited a while before you decided to catch up m8 cos I was doing 75 ish)
Well I will let you know the outcome, come and hold my hand if yous want 26th chatham magistrates.
Seriously thanks again for all the input, id rather get the points by the way cos when insurance companies ask about disqualification, it is in the past 5 years and yet the points go away in three

That's not correct, points count for totting up for 3 years and they stay on your license for 4 years. Nearly all insurance companys (ones i have come across) ask for motoring offences going back 5 years.

I was banned for 3 months for doing 99 in a 60 zone.
I'm in Scotland tho and I hear the courts are more harsh as the fisacal bumped the careless driving charge up to dangerous for no reason (the solicitor got the fiscal to drop the dangerous driving charge) so for just speeding I got a ban.
