Lets lower the speed liumit to 0 mph. Better yet, lets devide the speed limit by 0. I can definately live with that.

What gives this MEATHEAD the right to put other peoples' lives in danger ?

Sad thing is another tit-head will probably by the Q plate Cosworth and put it back on the road and drive it like a ***** as well.

And no, I'm not a hypocrite either.

It's not just him though is it. You and me both put other people lives at risk every time we get in a car. Car's aren't crashproof, too many people, Joe Public included think they're gonna jump in their car and get to their destination without a hiccup.

OK you can reduce your chances of having a crash by slowing down a bit, doesn't make you invinceable though.

The guy must be an idiot!
As soon as i'm aproaching any other cars I slow down, anyone used to driving fast should know better.
Someone can pull out way ahead of you(having seen you in their mirrors way back in the distance) but when your travelling at those speeds your on them in a flash, the last thing you want to be doing while travelling at 140mph is to have to break.

I am totally opposed to the 'speed kills' mantra. But INAPPROPRIATE speed does kill. Both these tw@ats have been very lucky. What were they trying to prove? What do they think track days were invented for? Get real guys - you give us all a bad name. Pr@ats.

What's gonna happen to him? Surely accident investigators are going to be asking questions....racing another car at 140mph on a public road = a short break on HM surely??

I'm sure all this discussion on an accident caused whilst braking the law will help his case no end.

Okay the guy was very naughty and is very lucky to be alive - but I can't believe all the sanctimonious piety spouted above. Hypocrites.

Besides, it is probably a wind up post anyway - it all sounds a bit cliched with the "19 stone body builder and cossie" stuff.

I don't understand why people are so self-righteous when replying to a post like this. Why call him at tw*at and get on a high horse? Why not learn from an experience like this, put emotion aside when driving fast and only drive as fast as you can see. Accidents do happen. You have to respect public roads because they are unpredictable in nature compared to a track. We all know every Scooby owner has the car for the performance and has at some time broken the law.

The truth is most accidents are caused by lack of concentration not excessive speed. Why don't you all think about that next time you answer your phone in the car or turn round to talk to your children or adjust the stereo?

People do enjoy writing condescending replies to a post like this and I agree it does appear to be a test to get a rise out of others.

140mph? Walked away?

You have obviously never seen how much damage is done to a modern car at a third of the speed. An Ancient design with very outdated crash protection would have disintergrated well below the claimed impact speed let alone coming from 140 mph.

Either you're are full of **** or your '19 stone mate' is

A (saph) cossie span very close to where I live at an estimated 50 mph ending up in a ditch (ie soft impact) and was so damaged all four occupants had to be cut out and hospitalised.

We buy fast cars for the thrill. No-one here argues with that. But that doesn't mean you have to drive at double the speed limit to get the thrill. I tiny amount of common sense tells you that. If the only thrill you (or your 'mate') seeks is top speed, take up drag racing, or better still 'bowl' racing. My weekend car can shame near enough any current production car in the performance stakes, Italian exotica and 10 year old rusty Fords included. Yet I don't feel the need to 'Max-it-out' just to get a tingle in my groin, and I promise you, I have many times the thrills/excitment/reward than is to be had of ANY cossie etc at half the speed your 'mate' alledges he was driving at.

No wonder our insurance goes through the roof with ****** like him on the road and crap like this being fabricated and told as fact

Thank god this **** lives a long way from me

Thats laughable. I think you need to get out and meet some of the guys posting replies on this thread. In the right place, i.e a trackday they would make you look stupid i would wager.

No one is being condesending because of the speed being driven, i myself have driven at 165MPH on a public road. The point is where he was doing this was not apropriate. If he did hit a lamp post at 70MPH he is very lucky. He probably thinks he did, he wont have been most likely, the last thing he would be looking at is his speedo whilst that lot was going on!

The guy drove like a *****, maybe he will learn from this and not continue to be a *****, i hope so.

to those who are calling him a stupid ****/whatever -

A) wonder if you'd be so nasty if he'd been driving a scoob?
B) Remember to call the next impreza driver a **** the next time you see someone on here posting that they've done 100mph+ on here
C) Wonder if you'd say it to someones face just after they've written their car off?

Yes..

your point being??

>>We have all gone a bit too quick at times lets face it but some of the comments are a little self righteous - is this scooby net or driving miss daisy!!

The point is that this is a scooby BBS, in the scooby general section - so don't expect glowing reports when some t**t in another car writes it off being stupid..

Kranky -

Imagine this, a regular on this BBS who also owns a Scoob, posts that they have written off their car and it was their own fault.

Do you honestly think that several other BBS users would have just called them a '****'? If you are one who would do so then well done , you are one of a few with enough bolox to do so.

You'll also call any other BBS member who admits to doing 100+mph speeds a '****'? Now that will keep you busy, you'd better start with this thread and call several people *****, and then look through 100s of old posts as you'll see lots of '*****' there too! And keep your eye out - every Scoob owner is a potential '****' as the cars wii double the speed limit. Again, good on you, make sure you stick to your high morals .

You'd say it to their face. OK you might, but I doubt the VAST majority would. I doubt a 19 stone b/builder, alreadly pissed off at his loss, would take too kindly to being called a '****' in the aftermath of writing off his car.

You are truly one of a kind. Although it is easy to be one of a kind on a BBS.

Writing your car off driving is one thing, but writing it off while doing 140 and racing another car? I'm not his/her parent's, he/she's big enough and ugly enough to do what he/she wants to do.

Just don't expect much sympathy from me when you total your car driving like the aformentioned ****!

Scooby55 the VTS will do an indicated 140 (actual 135ish) in standard form. The reason for this is mines is a MKII which has a revised ECU and therefore nearer 130bhp and a slightly slippier shape! She's also quicker to 60 than the MKI at about 7.2seconds. I'd only do such speeds when I have the road to myself or when me and my 'dare I say it' opponent have the road to ourselves!
