A friend was a driver with BR and then EWS until he had to retire.
He was trained on over 15 different classes of loco, all with different characteristics that he had to LEARN, plus he had to know HUNDREDS of miles of route, by heart, so he could drive it in pitch dark or fog, knowing EXACTLY where he was, what signal was coming up, what the gradient was, etc etc.
All this with up to 2000 tonnes trailing at 70mph.
They deserve what they get, and more.

Some people on this site are up their own @rse, reading through this thread there are numerous posts by members that think their better than others! Thankfully this is pretty much confined to NSR.

Any post you make on here is to stir things up and get a reaction.
Normally i don't bite (as that is exactly what you want), but sometimes you need reminding what a tit you make yourself look.
What you end up doing is looking like a lesser version of PS Lewis. Same crap, but without any of the humour.

Well my self esteem building sessions are working so i'm getting there thankfully. I can only imagine how sad your home life must be to get your kicks out of the threads and posts you make. Self esteem are the least of your problems

The problem is Davyboy you have got yourself a reputation.
Years ago people might have thought you had a genuine point to make.
Nowadays most realise you are trolling/baiting (or whatever you like to call it).
Was good whilst it lasted. Maybe take a note from what the other 'trolls' have done and re-register under a different username, then you can start the fun all over again.

I wear & encourage staff to wear Hi Viz do you want to challenge me to as what i earn ?
Tar & Brush spring to mind ................... i for one dont see the point of slating train drivers, the guys have to memorise(sp??) there routes. They have to hit certain buttons every minute of there journey or else the safety brakes come on & 200 tonnes comes crashing to a stop.
Research it a bit more before you spout your mouth off.
Oh & on another note ............. what is it that you do for a living ?

The mod is clearly a few tools short of a tool box. The only bit they got right was the fact I had an Impreza.
Didn't get on with it (wasn't very fast) and shafted on resale (I think I lost £3k with 30k miles and a year)? What a clown.

For what it's worth I do project management and manage a small team of IT communications professionals. I too can memorise my way to work and press buttons every minute.....radio northampton, radio1, radio2, 3 counties radio, indicate left, indicate right

And FWIW i agree that in the current economic climate some people should think themselves lucky they still have a job.

Is it that your jealous that these guys earn more than you ? If so why dont you go & retrain as a train driver, i could see you getting past maybe the first huddle of filling in the application form.
